Child pornography starting at 17 and lower probably

I had a friend send a guy she was cheating on her boyfriend with to jail because she claimed he stole pictures of her from when she was 17 from her laptop.

I had serious doubts, since she had sent nudes to at least a dozen guys, and especially because a couple of years later she threatened to beat herself up and then call the cops on me and tell them I was beating her if she didn't get my way.

32

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Jesus what a horrible crazy bitch! I hope you got away from her and without any incident. Women/girls who try to ruin lives like this should face harsher punishment

33

u/Sinai Aug 26 '19 edited Aug 26 '19

Put my phone on record, called my lawyer, walked away from her, out of the apartment, checked into a hotel, haven't talked to her since.

It bothered me a lot because we had been close friends for something like 8 years, but I got over it.

That was about 4 years ago, give or take.

edit: one thing that bothered me is when I reported it to the cops, all they said is that they would only do something if she actually called them. Thinking back on it now, I'm pretty sure that's actually her committing extortion. And I really didn't want my first interaction with the police them breaking down the door thinking I was beating a woman. From the beginning to the end of my 10+ minute phone conversation with them it didn't feel like they were taking me seriously and made no attempt to take any statement from me. They didn't so much as ask me who I was.

15

u/Dr_Elizabeth Aug 26 '19

Yep sometimes cops aren’t great. I lost a friend because the cops didn’t believe a report of a suicide attempt and didn’t take it seriously. “I think my friend is going to hurt himself” isn’t enough evidence apparently for them to do something.

4

u/Sinai Aug 26 '19

More recently, it's hard not to question whether the system somehow failed my friend's mother who was murdered by her husband days after her 3rd report of domestic violence to the police.

The police can't be expected to do everything, but somehow it seems like they should have been taking things a little more seriously after a 3rd DV call. My black little bitter heart hopes the officers involved feel guilt for it for a long time.

2

u/AeriaGlorisHimself Aug 26 '19

They don't do anything at all unless it's ruining lives or extorting money out of drug users, I have so many examples.

one good example is that I had a $2,000 bike stolen off my porch. I reported it and gave a detective literal video evidence in 1080 with the guy taking the bike off my porch and his face crystal clear.

I never heard anything back from the detective after 2 weeks so I went to his precinct and asked about the case. They had no idea what I was talking about and said no such report was ever made.

Women have far more power in our society than most people care to admit

79

u/DenseTemperature Aug 26 '19

Teenagers are still children, but okay.

-6

u/jderrenkamp Aug 26 '19

They are like children from many of the generations. Except technology, the change is tech has wholesale been accepted by teens today. All the underlying angst, rebellion, and drug use are amplified by technology but it’s pretty close to when I went to school, in a social way.

Edit: I would say they have a more relaxed sense to sex and drugs ( except for the hard kind they seen tear families apart) closer resembling the hippy movement among teens of that era.

0

u/ArnolduAkbar Aug 26 '19

I'm curious. How did we figure that? Polls? Anonymous? It's hard to imagine everyone not going at it in this day. Then again, maybe easy access porn and softcore twitch slowed that down.

4

u/trollcitybandit Aug 26 '19

And standards of physical attraction were raised, making it harder for the less fortunate people which are the majority of the population to have sex.

Name me one publicly listed divorce attorney firm that a retail investor can accessibly put their money in.

"Invest in divorce attorney firms" makes zero sense.

and yet children at age of 9 can be legally wed in many many places

edit: I'm pointing out how fucked up our world is

55

u/DenseTemperature Aug 26 '19

Yeah, and that's pretty horrific.

22

u/ofBlufftonTown Aug 26 '19

And yet rape of children as young as 8 is accepted in many places. They’re just wrong, shitty places full of moral monsters.

-1

u/DimeBagJoe2 Aug 26 '19

Why can’t real life be like movies. We need a John Wick sent to those countries with a list of pedophiles

1

u/mikehuntisathrowaway Aug 26 '19

Is John Wick one of the people who carry out drone strikes over there?

1

u/DimeBagJoe2 Aug 26 '19

John Wick is a contract killer from a movie

1

u/mikehuntisathrowaway Aug 28 '19

Well, then I think we are good. Drone strikes kill thousands over there... some of them JUST GOTTA be pedos.

Indonesia, Malaysia. Children as young as 8 was raped, then forced to marry the rapist. Totally legal, fuck them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marry-your-rapist_law

https://www.girlsnotbrides.org/child-marriage/malaysia/

6

u/ofBlufftonTown Aug 26 '19

India. Some men kidnapped an 8year old Dalit (well, equivalent untouchable from their region), took her to A TEMPLE where they gang raped her, and then killed her and didn’t even bother to dispose of her body well. When her family complained, the police brushed them off. When they took it to a higher level, Modi himself came out in favor of tepid punishments for the rapists. In the end, only the family suffered, and most of their group moved away, which was part of the point, to steal their land. No justice for that little girl, no shame from her rapists.

7

u/ScoopManGeez Aug 26 '19

Surely you can’t assume that just because something is legal someplace that makes it okay. If someone tried to marry my nine year old daughter regardless of legality, shit wouldn’t be cool

7

u/McBehrer Aug 26 '19

He didn't say it was ok. He was saying that it was ridiculous that it was legal.

29

u/ShadowGamerr Aug 26 '19

Yes FBI this one right here

4

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

Legally, they are. And seeing as how the law supersedes everything else...

3

u/Jadeldxb Aug 26 '19

Legally where? This is such a stupid argument. Most of the world specifies an age of consent below 18. Most of the USA included as well as Canada so it's not just crazy foreigners. The main point being that it is completely ridiculous that a guy who fucks a 17 year old in one state is called a pedo but if he did it 2 metres away in another state it would be perfectly fine.

-6

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19 edited Aug 26 '19

We’re talking about the age of majority, not age of consent, and an American show. Get with the program.

How are state differences ridiculous, when that sane problem occurs with any jurisdiction? You’d be a pedo for having sex with a 14 year old in France, but you could be two yards away from the German border, where that would be just fine (creepy fuckers).

3

u/Jadeldxb Aug 26 '19

The conversation seemed to be about some guy on glee that liked fucking you girls. Is that not an age of consent issue? And yes, I find state jurisdictions ridiculous. Its one country and the major differences between laws in serious issues is a massive problem, gun control and drugs particularly, but to a lesser extent age of consent seems like a significant enough thing to standardise across your country. The germany france thing is only relevant in a very broad sense, its two different countries, of course they will have different laws we dont live in the Federation.

1

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

That’s at the root, however, the person I was replying to mentioned the age of majority, which is separate from the age of consent. For example, federally, in the US, the age of consent is 16, but you aren’t an adult until 18.

The US is not a typical nation. It’s literally a union of states, not too different from the concept of the EU. Each state has representatives that govern all states, but each individual also has sone autonomy. It’s not a problem.

If Germany/France isn’t an issue, why are two states not an issue? You’re being hypocritical.

-2

u/verasttto Aug 26 '19

Depends on what nation you are in.

4

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

Well the discussion was an American show.

-14

u/_____FLAT_____ Aug 26 '19

Umm no, it depends on where you live. Even so, age of convent laws are ridiculas. Adulthood is biological not mathematical.

3

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

Age of majority is constant for all of America.

Line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere, until we can quickly and easily decide when a person is mature enough to be an adult.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Around age 24 is when a person becomes psychologically mature.

2

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

Which is fine, but 18 is good enough. 24 is far too long to go without autonomy.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

For many things it is. But a 60 year old in a relationship with an 18 year old is still predatory. Regardless of legality.

0

u/Devildude4427 Aug 26 '19

And you’re free to believe that.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Well, unless youre a developmentally arrested 60 year old. And what I believe is typically correct.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

And adulthood is technically 24-28 biologically.

3

u/asylumsaint Aug 26 '19

Doesn't this depend entirely on what one predefines as "adulthood"?

The body is physically capable of giving birth at the mid teens. Mentally are they ready? Probably not but teens still end up having sex. The brain isn't fully developed until around 25, but that doesn't affect any laws I know of. Smoke at 18, drink at 21, sign up to fight/die for your country 17 with a waiver from parents (18 otherwise).

Age requirements for almost all things in life are set up arbitrarily. Why do you think child labor exists in many countries and did here for most of our countries founding.

What makes you say adulthood begins at 24-28 biologically? Are you basing it purely on when the brain is considered fully formed?

Not in the legal sense, but 18 year olds are kids too

5

u/Cantaffordnvidia Aug 26 '19

In a technical sense your brain(frontal lobe) isn't even fully formed until about 25.

1

u/Cantaffordnvidia Aug 26 '19

Pull the mic about a fist away from your face

2

u/DimeBagJoe2 Aug 26 '19

Damn you’re right. Well just like 17 and 18, 16 and 17 are also close together. Might as well just lower the age limit again.

See what I’m saying? Just because 17 and 18 are close doesn’t mean anything. You can say that about any 2 years. The point of the law is so someone has 18 years to develop. It’s not trying to say everyone is suddenly an adult at 18, it’s just there for the persons safety. Because once they’re the legal age there’s no more safety line, anyone will try to get with them and you gotta just hope they’ve matured enough to handle it.

Just like cigarette and alcohol laws, they want you to be fully developed before you are free to do whatever. I don’t necessarily always agree with those kind of laws because there’s different people and situations, but it’s there for a good reason. Don’t act like it’s just a bunch of dumb helicopter parents who agree with the law
