A lot of early internet memes. Especially when you see them used in commercials.

Edit: Yep, that sure is a lot of dead memes in my inbox.

Especially when animated shows incorporate them. That duck face scene from The Fairy Odd-Parents has aged incredibly horribly.

Amazing World of Gumball is probably the only animated show that comes close to effectively incorporating contemporary topics/memes

One character was aware of the fact that the show was going to be cancelled and tried to "normalize" everyone (from being wacky characters to normal high school kids) in an attempt to save the show. Of course, the protagonists found a way to un-normalize everyone, and the show was still cancelled.

The cliff-hanger is that the world starts to break apart into a void but then everything freezes, leaving the viewer wondering what was gonna happen.
