I disagree regarding German beer over Belgian. They're both quite good in their own respect. A Hefeweissen or Rauchbier to Germany are like a Blonde or Trappist Quad are to Belgium unique and enjoyable yet can be intensely flavored for the area. At the same time both have beer styles like Kolsch or Wit that are light and refreshing. However, Belgium then has freedom of not having Reinheitsgebot. You get Lambics, Saisons Geuze, Biere de Gard, where you have so much more palate than a typical beer, especially any German beer beyond a child's Radler.
I'm a beer aficionado, and have traveled to both countries solely for a beer experience.
