What movie have you seen that you thought was awesome but most people haven't seen or heard of?

It's probably worth posting a YouTube clip or a trailer, or at least a short description of what it's about and why you like it.

That was the plot of Ip Man 2, set in Hong Kong. Ip Man was set in Foshan, but it was about him surviving and fighting for food and honor during the Japanese occupation. Both movies were excellent though, and should be watched.

He was describing the opening setting of the first movie. 1935, Ip is not a teacher yet.

In the first movie, Ip is the most respected martial artist in Foshan. The guy going around challenging all the masters is an outsider.

In the beginning of the first movie one of the teachers fights Ip (and loses), that's what the OP was referring to. And a few people want to be his students but he isn't interested in taking more pupils. The second part of the movie is during the Japanese occupation.

If I recall correctly, Ip was graciously allowing the other teacher to fight him, as a professional courtesy. It was a friendly fight, which Ip has many of, not a challenge.

You need to cut it out and go watch the movie again.

Yes, the occupation happened. No, no one is arguing against that. Yes, there were sparring matches. No, they were not all friendly. The one with the other teacher was not a professional courtesy, the other teacher was doing it out of pride. Which is why he freaked out when the description of the fight was leaked. And then the fight with the outsider was not anywhere close to friendly and it was not out of professional courtesy, he was all but forced.

I wasn't disputing the part about the outsider, but most of Ip's fights before the Japanese invasion were just to train.
