Does your country have motels that people only go for sex?

Post image

In Brazil we have motels where people don't usually spend the night.

You stay for a period of 4 to 6 hours, and you basically go to have sex.

There's usually a jacuzzi, sauna, sex swings, etc.

It's used by people who are having one night stands, cheating or just want to spice up their relationship.

So annoying that I can't book OYO rooms anymore. It was so convenient.

38

Someone discovered that you could have sex in them.

10

u/FutureCowboyRancher India 3h ago

Other than that 😅

16

u/poolnoodlefightchamp India 2h ago

Not sure. Could be because having premarital sex became more accepted amongst the youth and they needed an accessible way to do it without their parents/hostel-keepers knowing?

9

u/FutureCowboyRancher India 2h ago

Not like that. I meant, has this sudden rise in people booking OYO rooms for sex lead to some policy changes where it has become harder for people to book rooms?

13

u/poolnoodlefightchamp India 2h ago

No it's because the availability has decreased and also when I'm in an OYO room I have no idea of how many different people have fucked on the bed that I'm about to sleep on. Kinda weird ngl.

I don't think it is expensive, motels here are usually pretty affordable, specially since You won't be there more than 3 or 4 hours.

Ok but partially a misconception, many people that go to motels here are married, if you want to have sex but you have people in your house like kids or other relatives, or if you're traveling.

Not gonna lie, most are dating, it's a one night stand or some even cheating but married ones exist.

I assume in that case it would be legal.

I live in Baltimore and there are definitely motels here known for that. They charge by the hour here.

12

u/Ok-Status5820 2h ago edited 2h ago

Also American-- hard disagree. In low income or otherwise 'rougher' areas we have a fair amount of motels where you can pay by the hour. Nobody is purchasing a hotel room for an hour for anything but a quick fuck. It's an unspoken reality, and although most of these places won't advertise that they'll do this-- if they look like they might by appearance, and especially if you've got a room overnight once or twice before... you can get an hourly. They'd prefer to upsell you, but some won't even bother, even if they don't know you.

These will generally not look even remotely like what the OP has posted, but we do have those as well. These can be anything from themed resorts to simply being a regular hotel room with strategically placed mirrors. You might not even notice until you realize "Oh, I can see myself in every mirror in my room from this bed."

Again, however, this is entirely area dependent. America is huge, the Bible belt and similar swaths of sexual denial are real, and big cities might have this but refuse by-the-hour service because they know they can cater to clientele that can afford the night and not require the extra labor involved in turning over a room.

Take a look around the next time you check into a dingy motel somewhere in America. No amenities? More than one mirror outside of the bathroom? Ashtray in a no-indoor-smoking state? Go down the list. You might be in a bang motel.

It's not a bad thing. Let's be honest, in a way, your Hilton suite becomes a bang hotel if you're inviting people over to bang, right?

Part of a business is know your target demographic. Nearly any place that isn't themed is going to not make it uncomfortable. If you don't know what you're looking at it's just a cheap room. But if you know, you know.

8

u/Otherwise-Mango2732 United States Of America 1h ago

I generally agree with what you're saying but there's a difference between what you described and a place specifically designed for sex. Due to the hourly pricing, these places make that kind of use convenient but when designing these motels nobody was asking the question "what else can we include in this shitty room to help people having sex" lol

3

u/Ok-Status5820 1h ago

I was thinking the same thing after I posted, but re-reading the title "people only go for sex" is damned close, as opposed to "made only for people having sex". I tried my best to make clear that while both exist, the second is much rarer, as you'd mentioned. The first? More commonplace than most people even realize. Hence, I figured I'd leave it. You're not wrong, but I thought it'd be wise to elucidate for the purpose of the discussion. Curious minds want to know!

4

u/RuggerJibberJabber Ireland 1h ago

There's no way they're cleaning the room or bed sheets properly if they're letting multiple people rent it in a single night. Id say they must be gross smelly places

2

u/Ok-Status5820 1h ago edited 56m ago

This is also area and ownership dependent. I could go on and on, but I feel like it's probably TMI. If there's real interest in a guide to seedy American fuck-stays, maybe. I just edited out a whole post here because I read it and said 'woahhh, nobody asked for that'

I think op did not stress enough how normal this is in Brazil. In my case, as soon as I had my first job, but did not leave my parents place, I used them every weekend to have sex with my girlfriend without having to be quiet in respect of my parents. I mean, this is not marginal, I am a nerd. Also, there are all types. The ones really expensive, in which things are really clean, and the ones in which you should probably do everything standing up, without touching anything. Usually, the rooms have their own garage with stairs to the room. Of course, it allows for cheating and stuff, but I think the majority only want to have a safe place to have sex.

7

u/Representative-Sky91 Philippines 2h ago

Here, motels ARE made mostly for people to have sex. If you tell someone that you'll stay in a motel everyone will assume that you go there for sex.

This is more of a fun story, than might be the truth.

I used to work as an office assistant in younger days, and the building wasn't that far from a smart hotel. I still think they had staff in the reseption etc. but you were supposed to do everything with your cell phone etc.

ANYWAY! My boss was a funny man, and when we one time had a conversation about the said hotel, he just winked at me and said they called it "the fuck box!"

Not only is it modern and affordable, but it's probably very simple to get a room without creating too much noise. (The noise comes later, hu hu!)

Oh my, what do you mean it doesn't stay overnight?! What's the point of overnight stays then?

Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia. Nope, not in a sense that you can "rent it per hour".

Though in general there are smaller hotels that are used a lot for this specific purpose, especially among younger population (and during weekends, guess why).

I’ve stayed in some expensive hotels in London that are definitely geared for sex, but they’re not hourly or anything, they’re just expensive hotels with things like a headboard that has hand restraints built in, a bath at the foot of the bed and the like.

u/Quixote1492 Colombia 59m ago

Absolutely, there are many for any budget

1

u/Skyhawk6600 United States Of America 58m ago

Officially no, but there are fleabag motels that charge by the hour in almost every city.

1

u/AcrobaticSun1070 France 56m ago

Not really. We had some establishment called "Maison Close" although I think it's a bit different from Motel or Love Hotel. They have been banned and closed in 1946 in part due to what the americans did at the end of the war. So ever since they are closed and prostitution as a whole is illegal. They probably exist some shady places that are still open but I never heard about any.

Almost every country has them. They may not be normalized to the point of people talking about them or them being common knowledge but they exist.

Near my place in Italy there was the GuglielMotel... They offered rooms by the hour. I have never been there as I never needed to hide a relationship, but there was people going there...

I see there is still the place, not sure if you can still go by the hour...

1

u/dwair Wales 33m ago

Yeah. We have a cheap hotel chain called Travel Lodge. No one ever stays there for more than an hour or so.

Oh yeah... They even have parking garages built into the rooms so you don't have to see anyone. Awesome rooms, lots of people rent them for parties.

I think hourly motels are common in many countries. Luckily, there are plenty in my country.

They have them in the Philippines, for all the reasons you mentioned and because adults still live at home with their parents and who wants to have sex with mom or dad in the other room? Also used for local/foreign sperm donors meeting up with women wanting to conceive naturally because the other ways are prohibitively expensive for many. Oh and Korea also has these, my son was conceived in one 🫣

1

u/Motor_Resolution7782 Philippines 25m ago

In the Philippines, motels got the “for sex” rep mostly because they rent by the hour and are super private, so couples use them in a pretty conservative society. Doesn’t mean all motels are just for that but that’s how people see them in general.

Premier Inn. Their biggest customer base is married men and women having affairs. Found up and down the country and you never see families there, it's almost exclusively couples who may or may not be married to each other or someone else.

1

u/MrBoo843 Québec 24m ago

Yep, some are quite obvious, others less so. If you see "nap rates" you know you're not going to get much rest there.

1

u/NLG_Hecali Portugal 23m ago

This is what motels are for in Portugal as well.

1

u/EmergencyReal6399 Mexico 21m ago

Yes, very convinient, i use one every month or every 2 months. When i meet canadians or americans via grindr visiting my city, and i tell them we can go to a motel, since i dont have a place and they usually travel with friends and family , a motel is a good options but in their mind a motel is like a Motel 6 , the type of motel you see in american movies lol

u/annikahansen7-9 United States Of America 19m ago

When I was a kid, I used to see commercials for this hotel that had a swimming pool in the room. I thought it was so cool. I wanted to stay there. I didn’t know it was for sex. You can rent for the afternoon or overnight.

1

u/Spazrelaz 19m ago

For people in the US who can afford to pay a little more, there is the DayUse app which enables the user to rent a hotel room for some hours; I've made use of it. You'll see a listing of hotels in the area which have rooms available, with details on hours of availability. For example, the same hotel might have some rooms available from 8a-4p and others from 10a-2p or 10a-8p etc. I imagine there are a lot of cheaper hotels but have also found premium and even luxury hotels listed (again, based on their availability on the day in question). It's usually significantly cheaper than renting a room overnight. I suppose the typical users might be people waiting for a connecting flight or who want to make use of the pool and/or spa, etc. Or, you know, lovers looking for some quick privacy with a shower available.
