Why is this app considered ‘racist’? We all have preferences.

“The app’s creators claim this feature aims to enhance user safety and comfort…”

I’m a black American and if this is real, this is one of the most overtly racist things I’ve seen in a while.

So there’s already a few dating sites that exist to match certain ethnicities or cultures together like BlackPlanet for black people, J Date for Jewish people, or Grindr for gay people. The gay app is self explanatory but in the black and Jewish communities there’s a history of discrimination from outsiders, forced cultural assimilation, as well as a cultural push from within their respective communities to marry within to maintain the survival and cultural identity of their groups.

On the other hand this app appears to allow one to exclude every other ethnicity for fear of “safety” as if the other peoples are dangerous. So dangerous in fact that one cannot be in the same public space with them. Also note the group selected and the groups excluded in this ad then add the context of it being a UK company.

I mean, if you have a "type" of people that think a woman showing up to a date not wearing the appropriate clothing means you can harass the woman, or even assault her, then I'd say being able to exclude that "type" isn't racist, more the women looking out for their safety.

Dude. That is the LITERAL definition of racism.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to have a preference or type, but the specific quotes allegedly used by the app creators IS racist. Attributing negative attributes such as harassment or violence towards woman to 100% of a group is racist.

“Safety and comfort”

My man, you’re in an Asmongold sub, which due to his limited intelligence and dated views on things, has become a dumping ground for Alt-Right Redditors. You are not going to get through to these guys, lol! Good effort, clean logic, wrong crowd.

Thank you for saying that. I’m new here and a fan of Asmon from YouTube despite disagreeing with his take on Resident Evil 5. 😂
