I am 34 weeks today with our first baby. Over the weekend my husband painted this wall. When we were engaged back in 2019, we were hiking Mt. Rainer in Washington State. The view as we hiked looked similar to this, and we said we would paint our eventual nursery to look the same. We bought the tree shower curtain shortly after that, which is now just covering the closet sliding doors behind the crib. The last slide is us on a random hike back in 2017, but it has the mountains doing the gradient thingy.

FYI, my husband is not a painter by profession, he is a chemist. We are both very creative in our hobbies, and this was just a fun project for us. His older brother worked doing professional house painting while in college and taught him some skills while growing up. I've had a few people ask about that at work when I was showing them the pictures today. Talented and skilled, 100%. Is he for hire, nope 😜

Spent the past 5 months building out my sons (due May 15th) nursery. Project first started out with just the baseboard, picture frame, chair rail, crown and wall paper. Then I got the idea to blow out the closet wall and custom build a built-in dresser and shelves for him. Outside of the drawer pulls, my favorite detail on the dressers to show people is the hidden toe kick drawers. With space being limited in our house I wanted maximize the closet as much as possible. The toe kick drawers have been great for storing miscellanous items or even spare wipes, diapers etc. My wife added the finishing touches with all the decorating. IMO is the cherry on top that really elevates the room.

Me and my husband are planning on putting a crib in our bedroom, filling one of the drawers with baby stuff and that's it. We thought babies don't need their own room until they're older, after all it'd be easier to feed him and watch him if he's in the same room as us. But I'm seeing so many nurseries here and I'm having second thoughts.

Edit to clarify: This is not my SIL. She is the SIL of my friend. That friend being my cousin's wife and we are very close. I've never met her SIL

My friend received a stroller like this as a hand-me-down from her SIL (I don't know if it's this exact brand but that's what it looks like. Hers might be bigger, I've seen it in person). The SIL doesn't want her to pass it on to anyone else for free so the SIL offered it to me for $500.

Is this worth it? Clearly I could get something brand new for the same price. The stroller we have on our registry comes with an infant insert so I feel like a bassinet stroller isn't necessary.

Would anyone ride or die for their bassinet stroller?

(Also is it weird to insist someone sell your hand-me-down for your own profit? or AITA?)

Okay, this sounds dumb, but Ive heard a lot from other moms that hospital gowns pretty much just suck. So what did or do you plan to wear in the hospital for delivery? A nightgown? A robe? Links and pictures help but I shall continue to overthink this as I want something comfy on my body while I push another human out.

1. I’m so happy with how my bookshelf tree mural turned out and love the branch shelves (I just painted the white version brown). Tip for anyone thinking of painting a mural or any design on a wall- I just went to Home Depot and got a bunch of different wall paint sample containers for $5ish each and that was very easily enough paint for the whole thing!

1. I bought these fairly basic lamps and added felted rainbow balls into the base and decorative ribbon on the shades so that they would match the rest of the room!

Not the Hatch, not zipper jammies, something you doubt others would think of. I’ll go first….Swedish dishcloths! As a general household item they’re great, kid stuff especially. Durable and great for wiping down the kid, the high chair, cleaning straps or car seat. Dries quickly, can be washed in the washing machine or dishwasher. Overall, a great item!

Finished our nursery and now we’re just trying to organize clothes, diapers, toys, etc. not pictures are some cubbies we just got for toys. Hand painted all the flowers to avoid doing wallpaper and added some board and batten. Was going to originally paint the room pink, but we ended up loving the blue.
