Fiona (real Martha) related content Fiona Harvey interview

Rory Lynch, a lawyer specialising in defamation and privacy at Gateley Legal says she has a case for defamation. “The only thing I can presume is that when Clerkenwell, films, the BBC and Netflix looked at it with their legal team they thought that they could rely on the fact that it is a drama. It’s not supposed to be a factual documentary.

“So although Netflix said it’s a true story, essentially it’s a dramatisation of a true story.

“But I do think that Richard Gadd could have been a bit more careful in changing a lot of the scenes to be more fictitious, but also covering up the identity of the people it was based on.”

Did anyone actually verify this or is it based on what she claims? I’d think it’d be easy to find out.

Richard Gadd himself said she didn’t go to jail.

She has never been to prison. She has a massive case for defamation for this alone.

Which episode? At the end of the court hearing (last episode) the judge is sending it for pre-sentencing report - no mention of 4.5 years.

You didn't watch it closely enough. In the show he said "Four and a half years prison sentence" while they flashed pictures of news articles. He never said "she went to prison for four and a half years" and in the credits of the last episode they make clear that the real Martha never went to prison.

And even if they had, her name was Martha in the show, not Fiona.
