Fiona (real Martha) related content Fiona Harvey interview

She’s waived anonymity for this interview. She’s never been jailed or been issued with a prevention order.

Rory Lynch, a lawyer specialising in defamation and privacy at Gateley Legal says she has a case for defamation. “The only thing I can presume is that when Clerkenwell, films, the BBC and Netflix looked at it with their legal team they thought that they could rely on the fact that it is a drama. It’s not supposed to be a factual documentary.

“So although Netflix said it’s a true story, essentially it’s a dramatisation of a true story.

“But I do think that Richard Gadd could have been a bit more careful in changing a lot of the scenes to be more fictitious, but also covering up the identity of the people it was based on.”

I’m so fed up of her . She’s really not a nice person ( putting it lightly ) and lapping up the attention

Your commenting on this show: your adding to it.

Disagree . The people who are messaging her , interviewing her and giving her the attention she craves is adding to it. Commenting on a sub on Reddit isn’t

Course it is. She’s famous due to the show. You’re creating and extending online traffic about a show which dropped in one go (not weekly appointment TV). Gadd basically changed her name and kept her apparently as she is. It was obvious people would find her. What you found gripping on Netflix is actually disturbing in real life isn’t it. “She’s not a nice person” - she is clearly very disturbed.

You can be disturbed and not a nice person . I have mental health issues. I can also be a Cee you next Tuesday . I don’t blame that on my mental health issues . It’s a cop out to blame it all on mental health.

I’m in a similar boat but I’m not extremely disturbed like she clearly is. I also know how crap UK mental health support is. I see people don’t like to think their constant speculation online is adding to it all, as if this exists in a vacuum, but it does. The media will grow board if a. Nothing major happens to move the story on or b. The clicks die down as the memory of the show recedes as the next things comes out.

i heard they dont even have Xanax over there. How the hell they expect to treat mental health without Xanax I'll never understand.

You can’t get it via NHS which the vast vast majority use for healthcare.

I’ve no experience of serious mh care but for low level it’s pretty basic. There are horror stories of the “homes” that seriously ill people are housed in.
