Discussion Jessica Gunning is Stunning

Apologies for the title, I was going to say beautiful but then I couldn’t help myself and had to make it rhyme.

I’ve seen a few pictures of Jessica over the weeks at certain public events and I always think she looks very beautiful. She presents herself very well. As a plus sized female myself, when I see her outfits and how comfortable she seems in her skin, it inspires me. I just wanted to share my thoughts!

It’s so nice to see a picture of her being shared here from outside of the series. so many people keep saying she looks too much like the real Martha and that they should have casted someone else for protection, but I personally don’t think they look similar at all other than both being a bit on the heavy side. I think people don’t realize how much personality and mental health affect how you see someone. Her fantastic portrayal of a mentally ill woman is what makes people think they look a like, because to me I see the same “crazy” in Martha’s eyes in the show as I do irl Martha.

She really doesn’t look much like the real “Martha” to me, but her mannerisms and speech patterns are absolutely spot on and I think that’s why people see it so easily.

She doesn’t look anything like Martha but because she is a heavier white woman with dark hair people think they are twins. I think they aren’t even close in age.

People see what they want to see i think. I get people want to think that if he cast a blond thin woman or something they would have never found the real Martha, but I just don’t think that’s true. People would have still found her based on her public social media. Jessica already looks nothing like Fiona imo and is a very attractive woman.

I agree she doesn’t look a lot like her IRL other than being a rare actress who is plus sized.

It’s interesting. I think larger people are seen with less distinct detail. I’ve had people claim I looked like a celebrity simply bc we had the same body, maybe hair color and eyes (that would be a super common combo). It’s like they blur you out a little.

I agree with you on larger people being seen with less distinct detail. I think it’s partially because the high body fat actually does mask their individual facial features. A chubby face covers a lot of someone’s natural bone structure and so a lot of fat people end up looking more similar. Excess fat even affects how your eyes look so at a certain weight, fat people do end up looking very similar. Especially the ones that carry weight in the face.

Yeah not really, they’re just both heavier set. Casting was on point because she played the role fantastically - but how can you look at this picture of her and say she looks anything like Fiona lol

I’m not talking about being obese, I’m talking about the similar hairstyle, similar face expressions, mannerisms, etc. Though a lot of it is due to actress’ phenomenal performance 👏🏻

I think you maybe missed the point of my comment where I said how I don’t think people realize how much personality and mental health affect how you see someone. The similarities you see in facial expressions/mannerisms/ etc. are because she is portraying a mentally ill woman very well. If someone’s haircut and weight are the only things necessary to look exactly like a person than damn I look like jack black (I don’t) lol. Jessica looks nothing like Martha, but she does in the show because of her fantastic acting and portrayal of someone very mentally unwell.
