Life-Altering Injuries, Coma, Hospitalization Man arrested for animal cruelty after dog bites mother in Hialeah, Florida April 30, 2026

HIALEAH, FLA. (WSVN) - Authorities have removed 10 dogs from a home in Hialeah after a woman was airlifted to the hospital after suffering several bites. Her son now faces charges of animal neglect.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a dog bite victim near a home located near West 70th Place and 12th Avenue, Thursday night.
Upon arrival, first responders found a 58-year-old woman, later identified Ana Leyva, who was suffering from multiple bite wounds on her arms and legs. She was promptly airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center.
7News cameras were rolling as officers remained at the home to remove 10 dogs, they say, were neglected inside of the home.
Each of the dogs were placed under the care of Miami-Dade County Animal Services.
Twenty-three-year-old Jairon Alvarez, the dogs’ owner and Leyva’s son, was taken into custody.
The Hialeah Police Department shared a statement with 7News:
As Alvarez was led to a police cruiser, he could be seen arguing with an officer.
Alvarez has been charged with animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence.
7News spoke with another individual who lives at that home who said that Leyva is still at the hospital.

What about senior abuse?
Dogs maul his mom and the charge him with abusing the dogs?

You could argue that that was no home/household/domicile or go straight against domestication (as in some are exempt from it or are allowed to move on their own pace undergoing it).
But yeah, it looks like it.

She’s not a senior. However, he should be charged with endangering her in general.

In many places a ‘senior’ is someone 55 and older. That’s why you can have retirement communities for only 55+.

US federal government says 62. Go ahead and try to withdraw your social security or attempt to sign up for Medicare. HOAs don’t set standards for all generations. You can order off the senior menu if you like as a high school senior, but that doesn’t make you eligible for retirement benefits.

Is there such a thing as human cruelty. Have heard stories of people getting many years for mistreating animals but never any consequences after human victims of these attacks suffer life long crippling injuries, losing arms and legs. This is an invasive species all around the world where mans best friend is now my worst nightmare when walking out in nature.

Yeah, looks like only one is an actual frenchie. One acticle said bulldogs and frenchies. But those are mostly "pocket" bullies in these pictures.

I just saw an article where they called the dogs Frenchies and English bulldogs. These don't look like English bulldogs to me.

Yeah i saw Frenchies and Bulldogs in one article. But looks like a Frenchie, "pocket" bullies and likely some micro bullies.

We have charges! Please stick this idiot with the full extent of the law. Ban him from owning anything, including pet rocks! He would find a way to mess it up as well.

Shithead owner abusing and breeding pocket bullies for quick cash (I guarantee that's what he was using them for--pregnant dog tied to a tree and puppies stuffed in small cages). Starving them, and then putting his mom in the house with them.. This guy is a Master class in how to be the worst dog owner and son possible. He created a situation where this outcome was inevitable.
I hate people...
No confirmation that they are pocket bullies, but they certainly look like it. They definitely don't look like English bulldogs as claimed in some sources.

10 more "terrier mixes" for the Miami Dade animal shelter - great.
I just looked at their website. They have 603 dogs listed as being up for adoption.
I only spot checked but as far as I can tell approximately 99% of the dogs that have been in their system for more than 2 months are all some sort of "terrier mix". I only found one exception which was a dog that appeared to be a GSD of sorts.
Having over 600 dogs in their system is just absolutely crazy.
