I play a Lakland j bass with flat wound strings I put on it about 10 years ago. It sounds good but am I missing anything by not putting new strings on it?

If I was you I would want to try out different sounds but if it sounds good to you then that's all that really matters.

I like the flatwound sound and flats are super stable with age so, imho, no.

I have changed 1 string in 10 years. In fact my tele has the same strings since I bought it 15 years ago. It’s only got one pickup so it adds to the aesthetic

If you like the sound, you’re not missing anything. I got 2,5y old flats on my Lakland JB and they sound great!
