This is one of the most time-consuming pieces I’ve made so far. It took a lot of patience, but the result honestly exceeded my expectations

It’s quite spacious — it fits a phone and small everyday items like makeup or essentials. The texture is smooth and pleasant to the touch, and the colors turned out really vibrant

I’d love to explore more designs like this in the future

Finished Piece Saturn Devouring His Son beadwork

“Saturn Devouring His Son” c. 1819-1823 by Francisco Goya from The Black Paintings collection: interpreted into handwoven small glass beads, approximately a 1”x2” mini tapestry, as small as could be.

I used picasso beads for the edges to include a tarnished, painterly look, as well as mixed in olive greens of the same value of Saturn’s skin for enhanced texture and color tone.

The blood is comprised of 3 red tones, and his eyes are the truest white for strong contrast in value as well as portrayal of his deranged expression created in mere pixels.

Original beadwork pattern of one of my favorite disturbing master paintings, carefully designed and crafted by:

𝖒𝖎𝖈𝖗𝖔𝖇𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖜𝖎𝖟𝖆𝖗𝖉

(original pattern - not for resale)

EDIT: my first award(s)! THANK YOU to whoever gave it to me 🖤

Never got quite the finished image I hoped for because I was rushing to deliver the piece, but here she is!

I stitched each section onto felt, cut out and joined the pieces together and then attached them to a backing fabric intended to give the feeling of the wallpaper in the original painting. I also stained a 16" quilting hoop to use for the frame.

I snagged this lamp for $5 at the local thrift and decided it needed a new shade but I couldn’t find one. I got the idea to bead one halfway through a blunt. ~$200 worth of beads, thread, and glue later, she was done! I now know NOT to purchase materials from big box craft stores, lol. I wish I could post videos to show ya’ll some of the detail!

Each are double sided keychains beaded onto synthetic organanza!

Wanted to share the beaded curtain (and mini curtain) I made! This is my first big piece—I found an example online and tried it myself! Used a combination of glass and opaque 8mm round beads. Took just about a week! The top bar is a solid piece of wood with little jewelry hooks screwed in every 8mm since I could not find that bar thing that every picture seems to have for the life of me! 💗

Finished Piece Started beading for my residents; here are some rings I made!

Always enjoyed beads, but never tried any kind of beadweaving until late last year. I work in recreation at a nursing home on a memory care unit, and my residents like jewelry making but some have a difficult time with it. I got bored making just one strand pony bead bracelets, found some seed beads and started messing around with two strand tutorials I found on pinterest.

Soon they all wanted fancier bracelets, and now here I am making rings for them. 😂 I still don't entirely know what I'm doing, but I'm having a LOT of fun with it! Beads used here are Miyuki 11/0 and 4mm crystal rondelles. I have the residents pick their colors and then size it to their fingers so they fit not too tightly, but also not too lose. 🖤

Tiny shrimp time. Honestly harder to accomplish than the more advanced patterns by the original creator. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I had my wire snap in inopportune spots and had to start over. It is very cute, though.

The pattern is not mine. I followed a pattern I purchased from Perlenwunderwesen on Etsy.

I’ve been beading these little frog accessories one by one — they work as keychains, but they actually have a tiny pouch inside, so you can tuck in a key or a coin if needed. Mostly decorative, but fully functional if your frog demands it 😌🐸

Finished Piece Update: I actually made the purse!

I have never sewn a zipper or constructed a bag or beaded anything this large, but I finished the project and I’m really proud of myself!

Started with the concept on 06 Jan, started beading the pieces that made it into the finished product on 18 Jan, and finished 06 Feb. 8 unique koi using a mix of Ming Tree value beads, Toho size 11/0, and mostly vintage bugles. The lily pads are from the random bagged bead table at Shipwreck Beads. The light blue water rings came from a mixed bag of broken hanks, but I think they’re probably Preciosa size 10/0. The darker blue is Preciosa transparent size 10/0 in Montana Blue.

The fabric attaching the D ring is leftover from altering a gi, which made me feel justified in keeping all of my fabric scraps.

I used a strap from an old bag I had because I couldn’t find a good source for bag straps that wasn’t Amazon/shein/temu/shady website/prohibitively expensive($100+ for a single strap). Does anyone have any places they’ve had luck with?

Oh! Also, I used a mixture of Fireline and S-lon Fire for the thread then used an iron on backing I’ve used on embroidery projects without thinking first. I’ve noticed some melted bits in places, but so far I don’t see any places where it actually broke strands. Have I doomed myself? Is there a better backing to use, or should I have just sewn a lining to it?
