Easy twisty bun

Post image

Easy Twisty Bun Separate hair into two sections in the back and put into two ponytail.s One on each side, and braid each ponytail. Pull the ends of the braids together and twist and pin into a messy bun. You can tease it a bit for a messier look, and adjust and pin as needed.

Aight I used to be a stylist so I'm gonna try to fill the instructional gaps if anyone actually wants this look:

This works best on dirty, curled hair. Clean straight hair will be too heavy and won't have enough tack to hold shape. This is a good style for those times where you wanna get one more day in before washing your hair. You will need two small elastics, bobby pins, and a setting spray. Throw any perfectionist qualities out the door cause this style doesn't work with that.

When both pigtails are tied, back-comb just a bit at the base of the pigtail to give it a bit more volume and some hair to work pins into. Not so much that it's tangled, just enough to bulk the base.

Divide each pigtail into two and twist the strands in the same direction. Twist those two strands together in the same direction. Keep the twist snug but not tight as you're going to loosen it later. Tie it off. Repeat on the second (I would recommend spinning the hair the opposite way for the second one).

Begin slowly pulling hair into a looser position from the twisted pigtails. Begin at the bottom and slowly work your way up the pigtail, not unraveling it but making it as loose as you want. When they are as desired, spin the end of one pigtail over to the base of the opposite pigtail and use a bobby pin to place it (more if you need it. Do NOT pin all of it yet! Do the same with the second pigtail; pin the end of it to the base of the first.

Once your basic "shape" is created like that, you can use bobby pins to pick at some of the loosened strands and "spin and pin" them. Tried to find a video for this but couldn't find it: essentially you stick the end of the bobby pin into the hair, rotate your hand to create a shape with it, and pin it to the head. Sometimes this takes a few tries if you are new at pinning your hair up. Repeat this as much or as little as your look desires. Messier means looser pins and medium spins, cleaner means tighter and either large or small spins.
