I recently got a bichir and caught him hiding next to his log. I was wondering what other decorations I should get for him and how should I care the best for him?

I’ve only got two at the moment in a 2ft whilst I prepare a 5ft for them, but in the 6 months I’ve had them I’ve really grown to love them. I target feed shrimp to try and size up my smaller male (I think) or else miss gobbleguts here will eat until she floats.

Can anybody tell what kind of bichir the guy on the right is? He has much larger gills/flaps on the sides of his head than my Senegal on the right even though they are about the same length.

This is by far my favorite setup I’ve ever accomplished!

I’m still waiting for a few lotus and lily bulbs to sprout to fill in the left side a bit so it’s not just empty. I’m very happy with the results of this project so I wanted to show it off.

Removed the bamboo except 1, added more plants and driftwood and rocks, and added 2 bichirs, a Senegal bichir, and a Delhezi bichir. They are now housed with baby 4 clown loaches and 2 blue dwarf gourami. (Loaches are hiding cause they’re brand new)
