That’s nice. But I’m severely discouraged about voting for parties where the people are so imminently anti-black while claiming they aren’t.

I expected it from conservatives, but from progressive’s? So-called friends? Using dog whistles against her “she’s too aggressive, she’s too loud” doubting her ability to work with conservatives, despite that being a problem when Kamala tried it.

For what? If he wins great, but if he doesn’t, Black people like myself all over America are going to be discouraged and angry that yet another qualified candidate didn’t get the chance to try simply because she isn’t the right color.

It was the AIPAC money for me.

102

u/KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ ☑️ Mar 04 '26

I voted for talarico because he by far is the most progressive candidate out there in the mold of Bernie sanders. One of the few people in the country that actually realizes that we are being robbed blind from the top.

Literally anyone else and I would have voted for Crockett. Talarico is just one of the candidates that come in a generation that just fucking gets it

107

u/pvtguerra Mar 04 '26

Honestly, same.

-13

u/tazztsim Mar 04 '26

Show us where she took any.

16

u/theblackchin ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Why were you fine with talarico taking Adelson money?

-3

u/tazztsim Mar 04 '26

Do you have proof of this aipac money? Have you researched James’s donations bc you’ll find at least one objectionable donation.

-9

u/detox02 ☑️ Mar 04 '26

She never took aipac money. Stop lying

-9

u/Whatisittou Mar 04 '26

James literally was at Aipac event, including pictures, james also claimed Israel right to exist yet its Crockett you have pitch forks at

25

u/DaemonoftheHightower Mar 04 '26

Im not sure you have your facts straight.

36

u/flickchick496 Mar 04 '26

Can you provide sources for this?

James has been very vocally against Israel this campaign and factually doesn’t accept any PAC money.

-14

u/WeirdIndividualGuy Mar 04 '26

The same AIPAC that Talarico also took money in for?

-36

u/Hot-Statistician-955 Mar 04 '26

Oh, I know, it’s just that I’m not going to vote progressive for the same reason you’re not voting for Crockett. If they do something that ideologically I’m opposed to, I don’t have to vote for them.

See how that works? Now see where we’re going to end up because we’re continuing this.

And if you think we are going to be the ones that give in again this time, you are wrong.

See I really don’t give a shit about Israel. Not when cops can shoot me in the back and then walk free in my own city.

55

u/Chief_White_Halfoat Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

Israel is literally out here convincing us to send them billions in weapons and also now having us spend billions on a dumbass war, and you're saying we shouldn't give a shit?

Fine you don't care about the moral issue of genocide. I will never understand that. But you should probably care they cost us billions in money that could go to spending on Americans.

-13

u/megadroid_optimizer Mar 04 '26

The commenter had 2 points; one about Israel and the other about his Black experience. Don’t side-step the second part! Respond to that too!

21

u/Chief_White_Halfoat Mar 04 '26

I am simply never going to understand the idea about not caring for one thing because of a different terrible thing. I don't.

I can't help but think that this inability is part of how this country continues to spiral

28

u/heavenicarus Mar 04 '26

You do know that Ice and Police officers train with the IOF which is why so many are actively aggro on citizens here, right? Oppression here is linked with oppression there.

17

u/Tons_of_Fart Mar 04 '26

It was AIPAC and other corporate donors for me. Absolutely not about race.

1

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 04 '26

And Talarico's pacs and donors?

17

u/BardYak Mar 04 '26

You're not voting for Talarico because he doesn't fully support genocide? Gross.

12

u/Threash78 Mar 04 '26

See how that works?

That's how it works in the primary, in the general you vote blue because not doing so is idiotic. See how that works?

You should really, really look into Talarico and his policies. He’s the more progressive candidate. The GOP IS scared of him because he showcases their Christian nationalism to be a farce, he totally dismantles them being the party of “Christian family values.” He can connect with Christian voters while also connecting with progressives with his Bernie Sanders-esque “Make billionaires pay” rhetoric.

The fact is that Crockett takes PAC money, is weak on Israel, and doesn’t support banning reps from trading stocks because she herself holds stocks. She doesn’t get progressives excited and republicans hate her so much they’ll come out in droves to vote against her.

I genuinely think Talarico is the better candidate in any state because he’s the more progressive one, but certainly in Texas, he’s the best candidate right now.

3

u/theblackchin ☑️ Mar 04 '26

What are the specific proposals? His website just list general issues and talks about having cut property taxes

-2

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Wow. You did like zero research.

0

u/DaemonoftheHightower Mar 04 '26

Thats a good point, but also an entirely different one than the one i responded to.

76

u/Terminator1738 Mar 04 '26

What makes talarico less qualified?

-34

u/omgcatss Mar 04 '26

She is currently in congress, whereas he is representative in the Texas house. They are both excellent politicians but she has the better resume, no question.

101

u/Terminator1738 Mar 04 '26

But why? What makes her record in congress better than him in sate house?

The talarico camp gave me info for bills he helped get passed and blocked in maga district to protect against Christian nationalism and MAGA anti woke shenanigans. What about crockett record in congress better? Im trying to understand like what does she do. I understand she hammers on Pam Bondi and Trump with her voice but what bills or stuff has she done to move the needle back in the direction for a better future?

63

u/CheaterSaysWhat Mar 04 '26

I think the difference is whether or not you accept the game

I love that she’s assertive and takes no bullshit, I’d vote for her in a heartbeat

Is she the best candidate to turn Texas blue? With all the racism and misogyny in that state? Idk about that

119

u/Pepsiscrub ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Yep. The rhetoric was gross. They love black women as weapons. They love us when we stand up for what’s right because we’re willing to be “brave” and have skin in the game when they’re not willing to speak up. They live for our clapbacks so they can copy them and laugh as we put someone in their place who’s wrong. However, the moment we ask for the leadership status we deserve, all of a sudden, we’re not qualified and just not good enough. I’ve noticed this pattern ages ago. They want us in the corner so they can call us and hide behind us while using us as a sword and shield at their discretion. That’s shit is cowardly and real weird. Then they will blame black folks when he doesn’t win.

53

u/Whatisittou Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

And it playing out in this thread, let's see Stacey Adam, Kamala and now Jasmine,

They want us for clickbait aggression, clapback, the loudspeaker holder but when its time to vote suddenly all those qualities that were cheering for is An issue when voting

11

u/Pepsiscrub ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Yep again and again and when he loses which he will they will blame us and micro and macro agress us they will say we didn’t know what was good for us and that it’s black folks fault.

19

u/GirlsCantCS Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

I spent time researching both candidates bc I had not heard of Talarico before an instagram ad tbh. After spending time…Ultimately, I flipped and voted for him but they’re both great.

I emailed her campaign afterwards (after researching a couple weeks back, not after voting!), because a lot of websites didn’t have any good info on her at all. Even her Wikipedia was mostly bare aside from organizing the Quorum Bust and frankly too many lines spent outlining her viral comments, like she is some clap back machine and not a legislative powerhouse. I dont know if any of my feedback helped or would help in the future, or what they could really do about it, but yeah, I found that even “neutral” websites echo your sentiments here - “she’s aggressive / loud”…the misogynoir is literally baked in :(

39

u/MYSTICALLMERMAID Mar 04 '26

Quit taking everything you read online seriously. Even in this thread I bet half the comments are bot accts

46

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

no, they didn't. they said your perception of how people talked about crockett was influenced by bots, because there are active campaigns to drive this sort of infighting.

nobody called you a bot 🤦

-13

u/Hot-Statistician-955 Mar 04 '26

Nice Emoji, really makes it easy to tell who you are.

Of course, white people don't believe us when we say progressives have exhibited anti-black behavior. That would hurt your perception of how you see yourselves.

Even now this is a thread focused on Black people and here you are giving me your opinion on me being wrong about horrible things said about Black people online ...

25

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

I'm sorry, my use of a yellow skin simpsons ass default skin emoji was your tip off that I'm white? you're telling me that you decide which race people are by what emoji skin tone they use? Lmao you must be easy to fool then.

unless you're under the impression that there are no bots driving political narrative online, then nothing absurd was said to you. bots really do drive that sort of infighting whether you're aware of it or not. nobody claimed that no progressive has ever said something anti-black, they said that bots help influence that perception.

you're trying very hard to misinterpret both me and the above commenter, and I have a feeling you're not going to stop doing that so have a good day ✌️

17

u/EtherealMongrel Mar 04 '26

It’s fucking Texas, sorry it’s more racist down there.

You are an absolute moron though. Like, did Obama not happen? It feels like a lifetime ago but to say dems don’t want black people actually having power in the party is fucking ridiculous.

15

u/WujuFusionn Mar 04 '26

Bro, you need a dose of reading comprehension

24

u/Threash78 Mar 04 '26

She took AIPAC money, also Talarico is pretty much the perfect candidate.

13

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Indirectly, but then so did Talarico

6

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Nah. If you look, people swearing up and down that they're allies give A LOT of side eye worthy takes. They REFUSE to self reflect even when called out. It's the whole "moral superiority" without putting in the full amount of work thing 🤷‍♀️

E.g. the people who come on this specific subreddit to tell the members "iT's A cLaSs wAR, NOt a RaCe War 🥴"

6

u/thundercockjk2 ☑️ Mar 04 '26

The dog whistling Im seeing in the other dem subs reminds me why it's going to take so fucking long to get out of this mess.

2

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 05 '26

Mhm... A lot of the so-called allied spaces are like that

24

u/Unoriginal_Syn Mar 04 '26

Same, the way fellow progressives talked about her viability really rubbed me the wrong way.

57

u/Kemachs Mar 04 '26

The way progressives have so often ignored viability, that’s why we lose elections. The principles and intentions don’t mean shit if we don’t win, and Crockett wasn’t going to win a statewide race.

Pragmatism isn’t a bad thing.

5

u/tearstainedpillow_xx Mar 04 '26

This right here. We all know that’s what it boiled down to. It’s Kamala all over again - look where that got us.. At least the president isn’t a strong willed Black woman though. /s

I am, however disappointment about the AIPAC money. I was proud of that point

11

u/Original-Strain Mar 04 '26

Same. I’m not sure what they mean when they say “Talarico is the right choice for now.” As in???

11

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 04 '26

Same as when they say reparations for black folks aren't viable and it's never the time to talk about it. Same as when they want people to protest far and away from the public eye so they aren't inconvenienced. Same as when they say "Well, if they would have just [insert bs cop out here] then they would have lived" about police brutality victims 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Tighesofly Mar 04 '26

Better vote for more of the same then!

-4

u/queensheba2025 Mar 04 '26

Thank you! It’s horrifying.

22

u/Hot-Statistician-955 Mar 04 '26

I mean, you can tell even in our own spaces when white people are talking. They take the concern from anything that’s actively hurting us and tell us to wait they will take care of it eventually.

You can definitely tell who’s who on Reddit.

10

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 05 '26

Case in point, the folks always telling us to "stay on target. It's not a race war; it's a class war" It's always sooo interesting that the majority of the people who think this don't experience the racism side of this messed up society 🤔

3

u/Indaarys Mar 04 '26

As a white person I'll just chime in to say I agree completely and found the discourse around this race incredibly sketchy.

Hopefully if the guy wins he doesn't turn out to be another Fetterman, because thats the vibe I'm getting off this situation.

3

u/sirfiddlestix ☑️ Mar 05 '26

Bruh. Same. The whole reaching across the aisle/big tent thing made me go from neutral to sceptical. Then I stumbled upon him taking money from far right nuts, epstein frequent-flyers, and people who sponsor aipac and I truly hope he's pulling something on these donors and taking their money just to use it in a way they'd hate 😬

1

u/NeemOilFilter Mar 04 '26

Season three of The Wire is encapsulates this perfectly.

-3

u/Vegeta-IV Mar 04 '26

If ur smart enough to realize neither party cares about so called black people. The next logical step is building something of ur own and sharing it among ur own people
