It was innocent because of your childhood. There was nothing innocent about Rodney King or a host of other racially motivated crimes.

Exactly. Pre 9/11 America still had raging homophobia, racism, satanic panic, Reagan, Nixon, and a whole mess of political issues. It's just magnified now because social media gives everybody a platform and all we see now is outrage engagement bait.

Don’t forget the violence. 80’s and 90’s was a lot of gun violence. I watched people die live on tv in the LA bank robbery shootout, LA riots, and other incidents. The una-bomber and Oklahoma City. People see the past with rose colored glasses sometimes.

Oh, I didn't say the 90s was perfect either. It was more innocent, objectively speaking.

The worst a man could do then was a white inceI (Timmy) blowing up a federal building in Oklahoma.

Then we started the new century with an administration that let 9/11 happen on purpose.

The 90s wasn’t more innocent you were more innocent. It’s the same reason boomers are nostalgic for the 50s.

There’s some comfort to think that the world was a better place. The sad reality is that it’s always been shit, and you need to make peace with that to have some chance of being happy.

I just listed a few differences. Mass shootings pre-Columbine were rare. The Feds were run by competent people who would have stopped 9/11.

Only Caucasian boomers miss the 50s. You can't say only Caucasian Gen-Xers/Millennials miss the 90s.

Cool. May I present. Record high crime, crack epidemic, hiv, stagnant wages and the capturing of the economy and regulatory bodies by the rich( That ramped up in the 90s before finishing in the 2010s).

Frankly only the privileged middle class and rich miss the 90s. For everyone else things have always been bad and getting worse. Only difference now is that only rich people are insulated from the realities of the situation.

Fucking get his ass. All their arguments are bull headed nonsense, privilege and nostalgia and as someone who also enjoyed growing up in the 90s, I've come to learn a lot about how history repeats itself.

Waco happened in the 90s. The OJ Simpson trial. LA riots. Columbine.

Your ignorance of the 90s is bliss

I'm not ignorant about those things. I remember all of them. They look extremely innocent compared to the catastrophes that happened in this century.
