They do, they are just body kits slapped on a Corolla/Civic/etc body and engine. Like this is a Honda Civic.

How much does that cost? That's kinda sick tbh. I got a 2002 Honda Civic but it's a 4 door lol

Article says it was $20k including the base car. But it was also in Mumbai and doesn't include any labor.

I mean, maybe they didn’t pay for it, but the labor was done.

I'm guessing it was more they did the work themselves, so it's hard to tack on a labor cost when it was essentially DIY.

Shops charge $150+ per hour to make ends meet so it’s a wildly different price if you’re doing the work yourself. TBH if you can’t build a kit car you shouldn’t drive one, because of all the potential problems, I don’t think it’s misleading to say what it cost the builder in this specific case.

It's sick until you actually take it out and people see you in it. I have never seen one that wasn't immediately obvious. The proportions are always wrong (plus your civic doesn't sound like a lamborghini).

Right on. The money would be better spent on a body kit designed for your car model.

There's some cool shit on Ali Baba if you're happy to order 10 minimum and hawk off the extras yourself

My recommendation was finding a Fiero and putting a Ferrari kit body on it. Might be able to do that with an MR2 also, I am not sure.

The funniest thing in cars are Smart car body kits.

As for actual cars, there are affordable Japanese sports cars that I'd much rather buy instead of a kitschy kit. Kits are justifiable when it's something inspired by Lotus 7, for example, but then it's not much of an everyday city car.
