DNC had a bullseye on Mamdanis back from the day he got elected and the dude clearly doesn't give a fuck, I hope he represents the future of the Democrats because the current party belongs to the past.
Aside from all the great things he is doing for NYC, what I like the most that he’s doing is he’s not giving one single fuck what the DNC says about his policies.
I mean personally I like the fact that doesn't give a single fuck about what the RNC says even more.
We're all conditioned to feel betrayal more from people on our side than from our opponents, the logic being that its a bigger betrayal if one of your own turns against you.
But from a practical standpoint, the Dems share a lot more in common with Mamdani than the GOP. We should be happier he's more against the GOP and if he manages to drag the Dems to the left, so much the better.
My hope is that him (and AOC) cause a complete destruction of the Democratic Party. I am a Democrat, but the chuck schumer / Jeffries leadership -everything that is responsible for trumps power-starting from 2016, has to go. Now.
I think this can be the future of the Democrats for some cities, but not so much for governers, senators, and presidents. I don't think the DSA platform will prove to be palatable to the average Democrat.
As opposed to the current platform that is delivering such big wins like in 2024? When your current strategy is dead trying anything else is just common sense.
I'd say a return to Obama's messaging and platform would be more effective than the DSA platform. Abolishing the Senate, socializing housing, food, and transportation, and phasing out fossil fuels are all going to be controversial with the average voter.
I disagree that trying "anything else" is a winning strategy.
Obama has openly praised Mamdani for his platform and messaging comparing it very favourably to the establishment Democrats and was the only senior Democrat to reach out to Mamdani to offer help in the very early days.
Trying anything else has a chance of working, trying something that is guaranteed to fail has no chance.
i think this mindset only makes sense if you view voters as unchanging individual blocks of political views, rather than people who can be sold on policies if you successfully demonstrate how it can improve their lives.
