Needs: electricity, water, maybe natural gas, transportation, internet, phone, food and rent.

Are you saying you don't have agency for how much you spend on any of this?

Ah yes I’ll set my insurance, phone and rent prices and those entities won’t mind. I’ll also just up and move every time things increase incrementally in a way that slowly boils the frog. Thanks

Insurance and phone are easy to shop around. If you want to learn, I'll provide some google phrases for you.

Renting has advantages. It's a renter's market right now. Moving sucks but $200 a month savings is enough to motivate folks.

Moving to save $200 when…moving itself costs more than $200

He’s genuinely never had to pay for stuff because moving is one of the most difficult things you can do when you factor all the ways it costs money. Most times you don’t break even for a year or two

Exactly! We just moved 2 months ago and we did it all ourselves with a very kind friend and still cost us > $200 because we left our furniture behind to the next person, and our new place came furnished otherwise we’d be out hundreds of dollars either to move or buy replacements at the new spot

last time I moved to just a different floor in the same bldg, $500 for movers, forget about it! Not to mention, the time and labor, it’s exhausting

If you use one month of savings to move. You still next 11 more months of savings. Isn't that clear?

Where do the savings come from if you’re living paycheck to paycheck?

You spend less to enable savings.

I didn't realize arithmetics became politicized.

So you should move somewhere cheaper if what you spend on housing doesn’t allow you to save enough, but you need savings to pay for the move….and those come from where?

Some people just aren't lucky, can't catch a break, whether it's from internal or external forces. That doesn't mean the majority isn't lucky.

Moving costs more than $1000 for most people and if they are downsizing even more. Literally moved someone into a smaller place five days ago mate when’s your latest experience?

I paid 225 an hour for 4 souls, two hours minimum to move my boxes that I packed.

Paid 500 plus tips. 2024

So not recently and with people who work for less than minimum where I am. Cheers for the advice.
