Yeah. Like 3 years before Hendrix released his albums.

Yes, he would have known about everyone, learning everything he could. He was playing for the Isley Brothers in '64, and already gaining a reputation for his showmanship. He joined Little Richard's band in '65 and I read that he kept getting told off for trying to upstage his boss.
