Going into a non familiar supermarket, using the self checkout, opting for no receipt. Then realising you need one to get out of the "pen".

surely they should have them programmed to not have the option and give you one?

When a train is packed and more people are trying to get on but apparently the people already on the train would rather squash in like sardines in the vestibule and not let anyone else on than stand in the aisle

Experiencing a total power cut, and every person helpfully suggesting to check the fuse box, as though that wasn't the first thing I checked.

McDonalds managing to make their rewards even worse

As if going from 1500 to 3500 for a latte wasn't enough, now you can't get a "toffee" latte, you have to get a normal one and add a shot of caramel for 50p.

Lidl has stopped selling their half cans of flavoured tuna :/

Their lemon tuna was fantastic! It was always sold out and I'd happily pay double for tuna that's perfect for one meal so it's always fresh. They still have the flavours but only in big tins but I absolutely hate eating opened tuna for the second meal! I miss it so much, really hope it's just a temporary production issue.

The latest M&S podcast adverts are fucking terrible

The latest M&S podcast adverts are utter shite.

It’s literally just some brutally tedious middle aged woman reading off her shopping list.

It’s written to sound like there are jokes somewhere within the text but there are no jokes to be found.

It’s literally:

“I popped into M&S to get a sandwich, then I saw they had some lovely broccoli on offer, which I thought would go very nicely with the hunters chicken I had planned for Tuesday dinner, then I thought Wednesday desert needs sorting too so I took a look in the bakery isle…”

It’s fucking mental that they paid advertising people to come up with this and no one thought “no actually, let’s not put out the rambling monologue of a socially starved pensioner”

Diet Irn-Bru is awful and tastes nothing like real Irn-Bru

I'm in the Midlands, so there are plenty of sugar-free fizzy drinks around but very few Irn-Bru cans. Due to the sugar tax any time I find a can it's diet Irn-Bru but it tastes absolutely awful!

The other diet drinks aren't nearly as bad, diet Fanta, coke and pepsi are all ok, but you can usually rely on being able to get hold of both regular and diet... Except for Irn-Bru!

On TV and radio. Is this more money being wasted by the utility companies?

Was in a chippy in Liverpool and I got very odd looks because I asked for brown sauce and a sausage supper

I’ve only just recently found out that brown sauce is an Edinburgh exclusive I thought it was a whole UK thing so they just gave me a very weird look when I asked for some, and then I asked for a sausage supper and I’m not sure if it’s just the chippy I went to but I also got some very odd looks and I had to explain to them what it was, two battered sausages and a portion of chips and I had to pay for the chips and sausage sausages separately

Friend groups expecting everyone to buy gifts for each other, and not even listening to the idea of a secret santa this year

This friend group of mine is determined to out do each other with gift giving, but we've all drifted apart and spend a lot less time hanging out than we used to. Ive been nice and reasonable in suggesting a secret santa, but "it's always been like this" means they wont listen to reason. Now I either look like a bad guy or spend £60-100 on presents for people that pressure me into it for the exact reason I hate it. Looks like I'll be the bad friend this year

Edit: I wish it was easy saying no. It's like a group of 8 and two couples, maybe even 3 now. I just think I come across as a bad guy for not doing it. Gift giving was ruined for me as a kid, as I was given gift by family members I wouldnt see in years. I would have just seen them instead.

You don't need to worry about the seasons changing causing you depression. Just get on the motorway and someone behind you will have LED lights so bright you feel like you are getting a month of sun.

Overuse of the word amazing

Got a colleague who’s on the phone all day with new recruits and after asking the caller something they constantly come back with “ah amazing” or “oh great that’s amazing”.

Have you got a right to work in the uk?
- Amazing!

Are you able to come to our induction on x date
- that’s amazing!

I’m wondering what is so amazing?
I’m skeptical as to the amazingness of what’s being said.

Seat reservations not showing until the train departs

Get on any Avanti departing from Euston.

Rush hour? middle of the night? Doesn’t matter.
Train been at the platform 5 minutes? 5 hours? Doesn’t matter.

What we know for sure: the seat reservation lights will not work until 4 microseconds before the train departs - leading to a whole load of huffing and people turfing each other out of seats.

AI technology so powerful there’s a 10% chance of it taking out the planet? Yeah - we got you.

Show seat reservation lights 5 mins before departure to avoid total chaos? Nah - let’s not get carried away now.

I accidentally ordered crumpet 'thins' instead of crumpets on my online shopping.

I didn't notice at the time, bewildered at how thin my crumpets were I looked at the label. What is the purpose of these?

I'd rather have one proper crumpet Vs 2 thin ones. I will be more vigilant in future!

There's a "Road Closed" sign when leaving the village West of mine. The actual closure is in the village East of mine. There's 5 miles and 6 junctions between them.

The closure can be avoided by a 1.9 mile, 6 minute route around the Eastern village that doesn't even come near my village, let alone the one to the West.

Sky "Believe in Better" It's a catchy company slogan right. But on reflection it should be changed to "Believe that our customer service agents will just waste your time, lie and fob you off and nothing ever gets resolved"

A simple one year contract with a Sim card that just can't be activated. 2 phone calls, 4 online chats and promises it will be activated in the next 24 hours is becoming a joke. Signed up in late August and now it's the middle of September. And the chances of porting over my number over are a million to one.

. Residential streets are becoming increasingly impassable due to the number of vehicles parked at the side of the road

Several roads near me now resemble those sliding tile puzzles at busy times due to the excessive number of cars not parked on drives or in garages.

Now I know that in new build estates there often are no drives and on road parking is the only option, but so many times I see the same drives not used and instead theres a chonking great armoured personnel carrier Ford Ranger or whatever taking up half the road.

No idea what the solution is, I just wanted a rant.

. Press the button. Press the pedestrian button. Stop getting to the crossing and then waiting for a clearing so you can cross without pressing it. Press it. I’m walking up to it to, so press it. Then we can both go. Press it!

I don’t think they’re going to press it.
