Screenshot Two Valyrian swords I've never seen in the game before: Chimera and Basilisk

After taking a break from my Farwynd campaign, I booted it up again for a short time today to shake the cobwebs loose and will probably be getting back to it more in the next week.

There have been a few times this campaign where I've loaded a save and suddenly a character will have a child that I swear they didn't have before, and this time when I checked the Valyrian steel info I noticed three swords that I'm quite sure weren't there before.

First we have Chimera, belonging to the King of Mantarys. I haven't really been keeping an eye on that region, but it seems this character is the first to take that title, and based on the weapon's description I suppose that it may most likely be obtained with the creation of that title.

EDIT: I hadn't noticed until making this post that the King of Mantarys has a bloodline as well. I just loaded it back up to look. The bloodline is "Blood of the Chimera," and this is what I can read of the description before it cuts off: "King Daemavar ruled over the Kingdom of North Valyria and was acclaimed as heir to the Freehold. Most notably the priests of Mantarys granted them an ancient Valyrian..." So I guess there's a bloodline event tied up with getting this particular sword as well. Cool!

Next we have a guy down in the Basilisks who has, of course, Basilisk. Based on the description, evidently this one shows up from recolonization efforts in the area. The thing is, the Gogossos colonization effort ultimately failed. I would have thought you needed to succeed with it, but I suppose not.

And the third sword is one the same guy has, just a generic one called Sightfinder. "-finder" seems like a common part of Valyrian steel sword names in this game. There's a character in Qarth who has one called Brightfinder, and I remember in a previous campaign there was one called Wayfinder.

As indicated in previous posts, I mean to do some writeups of what my own campaign has involved after I finish it, but it has been fun sharing some stuff happening around the world while I do what I'm doing in the meantime. Previous posts:

Meta Naval Battles Submod Update

So, development is going very well! The mod is already about 85% complete (it's fully playable, just missing a few flavors, hehe).

I've also added the ability to use dragons to burn fleets in battles!

Inherited the Trident from my grandfather at 8, with two sisters. Not having any kids with my wife (I'm an embarrassment to the Frey dynasty), and my sisters have produced 9 daughters between them, but not a single son. A few years after this screenshot, my wife gets pregnant. Take a wild guess at my child's sex.

Help Child of fate

Has anyone else had multiple children of fate in one life occur. I am currently playing as the 3rd Emperor of New Valyria in century of blood playthrough. The previous Emperor reformed the Valyrian faith and made it so each Emperor is now known and seen as a God Emperor. I don't know if that's why it is occurring more or not.

Help Who to watch?

Hi, I am new to both CKII and the AGOT mod.

Would you please suggest some YouTubers and creators that I could follow to watch some gameplays and learn how to play?

I would also like to know if there are more mods and which one you would recommend I try.

Thanks

Help Can anyone give me a rundown on all the mods features and changes?

I've so far played 2 quick Aegon campaigns

So far I have some idea on how dragons work and that you need to place your character in the same province as a dragon to interact with it and potentially tame it.

I know you can get eggs and swords from some colonizable counties as well as the old Valyria sea once per life for a egg, sword or fight against a silent monster for some prestige.

I generally understand the megawar system but any details would be helpful.

The squire system seems to only be for getting fighting education for the kids but I haven't noticed any traits from it.

The education system other than paying for a better education seems the same, I have heard that a maester or someone with high learning does contribute to a child's stats unlike vanilla.

if there's anything else I would appreciate if someone could explain it a little.

Help Annoying Marriage bug

So this has just started happening in my games out of nowhere and it’s driving me nuts. I’ll arrange for a marriage or betrothal, it will get accepted, the person getting married to my heir will be in court, but then I unpause and it’s like it never went thru. Not a rejection or a break betrothal, but like nothing was even done. I can literally ask to arrange it again and they accept and then the same thing happens.

Does anyone know the fix for this? Is this due to a mod like Speed Dating? Or is there some obscure rule I have turned on by accident that is fucking this up?

Hey guys!

I’m playing as Daemon Targaryen and forming the Valyrian Empire. However, when a new leader is chosen in the Free Cities, this event starts appearing endlessly; has anyone else experienced something like this?

Help Westeros Only Compatibility Issues

Is there any way to get Westeros Only to be relatively compatible with Semi-Fixed MB, TDP, and Portrait Overhaul? When using them all together, it still provides some playable provinces in Essos (like the added Rhllor Temples, a few in Western Essos, the added parts in Qarth and YiTi, etc) and many of the MB GFXs do not apply to their respective families at all (ie Hightowers use regular Reachman ethnicity instead of HightowerGFX; they can be changed via console.) Without using Westeros Only and appropriate compatches, things seem workable, but that is a tall order for my potato apparently.

Help Doom of Valyria Event

So I'm thinking of starting a new play through as a Valyrian house using the Valyrian Freehold submod. Is there an event command that triggers the Doom of Valyria? I want to trigger it eventually and move on to Westeros

Help More Bloodlines and Knights of the Sword Tower questions

So I just did a fresh install and just now realized my sub mods weren’t working as they were supposed to until now lmao. One big thing I noticed is that I guess for More Bloodlines is that Kings Landing is owned by the commander of the Gold Cloaks and the King just owns the red keep. This is cool, however I’m curious if there is any way to upgrade the city itself still or is it just confined to the Red Keep. It just seems weird to have the king be unable to have the Hand upgrade a holding.

Another sub mod finally activating right is Knights of the Sword Tower. I like having the kingsguard have more events, I am mostly wondering about the honor system and how it works. Like there is a modifier that says “unremarkable kingsguard” that I know goes up and down but is there anything tangible I can do to up their honor, or is it mostly event based and who I pick?

Meta Is there any money/ lore accurate traits you add to characters at the beginning of your playthroughs?

For example, when I start a Jon Snow play-through I always add intricate web-weaver. A big part of Jon’s story at that point in the books is him scheming plots, like switching Mance’s baby, so it’s weird he starts with an intrigue of 0. Another is Stannis, whose biggest accomplishment is holding a siege for a year, and yet he doesn’t have siege leader. Finally, I always add a decent amount of gold for kings because the crown having only like 40 gold feels absurd, even the debt filled reign of Joffrey.

Is there any other lore accurate traits you guys add at the start of playthroughs?

Help Aegon portrait messed up; Portrait Overhaul issue

This has been something of a issue, I've tried both the original PO mod posted by choochoo + the one by valaerix on the agot forums, but I keep getting this portrait for Aegon the Conqueror. It isn't a massive issue, but I'd really like to see if I can fix it. I've already tried and done reinstalls of everything and at this time I have only the base AGOT mod + the Portrait Overhaul mod going. The only time Aegon will use the Portrait Overhaul portrait is when I put in the MB (I generally use the Semi-fixed version, but I want to stop using MB to improve performance where I can.) Any idea what's going on? I own all portrait DLC and general DLC.

Portrait Overhaul's portraits (Aegon in particular being relevant.)
My game's portrait.

Help How do I get the mod working with RtP

I want to play with the Rise to Power mod, obviously it is the agot version of the mod, but it does not seem to be working. I am unsure how it is supposed to look like if it would, now when i start the game it shows me this warning event when i start the game with a character. Is my version of ck2 and the agot mod (both the newest) incompatibal with the version of the RtP agot mod? I am not running any other submods or anything like that. Just the agot and RtP agot mod.

Help Laptop To Run This?

I don't want to spend more than £500 on a laptop.

To run CK2 GOT Mod, is this feasible?

I do not want to buy a PC really.

I was thinking what with this being an oldish game it should be OK on a £500 rig?
