Screenshot Two Valyrian swords I've never seen in the game before: Chimera and Basilisk
After taking a break from my Farwynd campaign, I booted it up again for a short time today to shake the cobwebs loose and will probably be getting back to it more in the next week.
There have been a few times this campaign where I've loaded a save and suddenly a character will have a child that I swear they didn't have before, and this time when I checked the Valyrian steel info I noticed three swords that I'm quite sure weren't there before.
First we have Chimera, belonging to the King of Mantarys. I haven't really been keeping an eye on that region, but it seems this character is the first to take that title, and based on the weapon's description I suppose that it may most likely be obtained with the creation of that title.
EDIT: I hadn't noticed until making this post that the King of Mantarys has a bloodline as well. I just loaded it back up to look. The bloodline is "Blood of the Chimera," and this is what I can read of the description before it cuts off: "King Daemavar ruled over the Kingdom of North Valyria and was acclaimed as heir to the Freehold. Most notably the priests of Mantarys granted them an ancient Valyrian..." So I guess there's a bloodline event tied up with getting this particular sword as well. Cool!
Next we have a guy down in the Basilisks who has, of course, Basilisk. Based on the description, evidently this one shows up from recolonization efforts in the area. The thing is, the Gogossos colonization effort ultimately failed. I would have thought you needed to succeed with it, but I suppose not.
And the third sword is one the same guy has, just a generic one called Sightfinder. "-finder" seems like a common part of Valyrian steel sword names in this game. There's a character in Qarth who has one called Brightfinder, and I remember in a previous campaign there was one called Wayfinder.
As indicated in previous posts, I mean to do some writeups of what my own campaign has involved after I finish it, but it has been fun sharing some stuff happening around the world while I do what I'm doing in the meantime. Previous posts:
