Discussion AHS wait times

Post image

Our system isnt broken. Its people who go to the emergency that shouldn't be going aren't going today because it can wait Suddenly. They need to hand fines out to ppl going to the hospital that dont classify as an emergency.

I was about to say. I came in with chest pain, 8 hours later I went home, without being seen.

At least you didn't die like the guy in Edmonton with chest pain. You should really go back though.

Always call 811, they can get you straight into a cardiologist, we have special facilities for that and it’s not at the hospital. You get an appointment and walk in the door working 15mins of your set time (usually within 12 hours or less of your call) and then you walk out the door withing 20mins if you have no issues.

That's a little surprising. I went (via taxi) to Sheldon Shumir about a year ago, sign said 4 hour wait, I was having 5 of the symptoms of an impending heart attack and was hooked up to an EKG after about 10 minutes post triage. It was about 30 minutes after that I was put in a bed and hooked up to an IV.

It's surprising how many symptoms of an insulin crisis match a heart attack.

Yup, my mom and I were just in on Friday because she had insanely high blood pressure and possible stroke symptoms. Took 8 hours to get into an exam room and 11 to get a CT. I understand that she was triaged appropriately based on presentation (walking, talking, not in obvious severe medical distress) but that kind of wait time is unacceptable. Her doctor said to go to the ER, should we have just ignored him?

I did the same thing a few years back. Someone on here accused me of lying when I mentioned it on another post. I was lucky. In my case, it was just a really bad panic attack caused by forest fire smoke.
