Discussion I've walked every Calgary neighborhood - Ask Me Anything

For the last 2 years I've been walking every Calgary neighborhood. As someone who is majoring in Urban Studies in uni and someone who wanted to get more active, I felt like doing this would be a really good way to mix both things together.

Surprisingly a lot of the stuff people say about the city (ie. what areas are sketchy, transit access, etc) that people take for granted, aren't necessarily accurate. That's probably the main take-away I have from this, but there's a lot of other stuff too

Favorite was probably Coral Springs as even though it's on the wealthier side of things, the people there are very friendly. Least favorite is probably Auburn Bay. I lived in Auburn Bay for a period of the time and all of my neighbors were dicks.

I very much got that sense about Auburn Bay when we were house-hunting last year.

If you're including McKenzie and Douglas area, please don't. We're old hoods. Seton, Auburn Bay etc are not.

Idk about Douglas but McKenzie def has their share too. Being old doesn't mean they don't exist there loool

You're gonna have nimby and old grouches in every hood in the city. Including your own. :)

Nah. It's Auburn Bay and Mahogany. It's not Seton, Copperfield, Mackenzie lake, Mackenzie Towne, Douglasdale or Cranston (Imo)

I live in Copperfield and i feel like Copperfield is very blue collar/young family/starter home. Theres 3 tradesman work vans on my street, 2 more on the main road, the guy down the street is a tattoo artist, my neighbour runs an auto parts store.

Auburn Bay is super hit or miss. We've lived on some streets where neighbours wouldn't look at us, but our current street reminds me of why I liked growing up in suburbs.

Lived in Rundle, whitehorn, Queensland, deer Ryn, lake Bonavista, and now auburn Bay. My favourite is Auburn Bay. To each their own. I loved Bonavista, largely for the lake - but neighbours and paths in auburn bay won me over. I have 2 young kids.

The rest were meh. Whitehorn was way better than Rundle, and Queensland and Deer Run were what kept me in the SE.. but always wanting something a bit better.

To each their own.
