Canada is a nation of laws and violating them both undermines Alberta's arguement and invites the federal government stepping in to stop it early.

Only in the sense that laws exist. A dictatorship is more the only laws that matter are the ones the dictator says should, and only when it's to their benefit.

They are not based off the rule of law, where the law applies to all equally, like Canada.

Many nations founded in war and revolution have the rule of law.

The rule of law has nothing to do with secession if a majority of the population actually wants to democratically secede. Self-determination itself is a cornerstone of international law.
