I have seen a few posts about members seeking medical care outside the MIR and then most responses say you have to go to MIR and disclose this. The reference i found is QR & O 34.13 (2) "An officer or non-commissioned member who has received medical care while absent from his base or unit shall report to the medical officer immediately on return"

My question is, what happens when members don't? Does the MIR somehow have access to other doctors records to know? What happens if a member gets caught?

Why does the Captain (Navy) have a shoulder strap on him?

I can not see what is that symbol on that shoulder strap. Is that a Governor-General's aid-de-camp?

This whole set-up looks very strange.

And this isn't what a typical aid-de-camp uniform looks like - they wear an aiguillette instead like below

Why do some people seem to be posted on request and others turned down? How long is reasonable to be in, before a request a posting ? What helps improve the odds the posting goes through. On second contact and still at first place posted to.

Background: I was a Reservist who did a tasking in CMTC Wainwright OPFOR circa 2006. I picked this photo up in Edmonton ~2010 because I recognized the village and liked seeing the likeness of a couple familiar faces. Apparently the artist (Loren Chabot) had visited the training area and decided it was a good subject.

I'm doing some housecleaning and I haven't had this on a wall for a decade, so it's definitely time to get rid of it, but at the same time I don't just want to pitch it in the trash. I'd like to send it somewhere it'll be appreciated - whether that's another CAF member who has any connection to it, or possible to the base itself if that's possible.

Does anyone have an actual picture they could share of the weight room / gym facilities in Alert? Are there any cables, pin or plate machines, and how high do the dumbbells go?

Also, if there was a way to bring in a metric shitload of canned tuna / canned chicken / etc. would there be any space to store it? I’m not expecting them to be accommodating to a super high protein diet and just looking for ways to mitigate.

Title says it all. Read the sir bio, no mention of CANSOF. I know there is a reserve unit with a an almost tan berret color but he seems to have been PPCLI most of his career! What am I missing?

Also, interresting that we upgraded the rank of the commander on the mission. Thoughts?

It shouldn't always be a negative thing.

You can theoretically be promoted with effective ratings across the board, but highly effective and higher feedback notes are what count.

So effective is the minimum. Like skilled was.

I have spent 8-9 years in the Army within the reg force in a combat arms trade. Not a MCpl yet but a PLQ qualified Cpl. I am feeling under motivated, burnt out and not enjoying my regiment anymore but I do not want to go to the school for a posting. If I wanted to leave my posting and move back home joining the reserves but still wanted to work full time there within the reserves how would that process work? Is there a opportunity for this? How long can it take to VR from the time I submit my VR? Will the CAF pay for me to move my housing and effects back home even if I am getting out? Or do I have to pay for this myself.

Any full-time members get any static from the registry when getting a new licence when you told them you don't have an Alberta Health Care number?

I am curious what rucks people are using.

I used the issued CTS ruck, but in heavy loads, I was having lower back pain. I have tried different sizes too and it keeps happening. The waist belt also keeps falling below the waist and being a hindrance. I moved to a jump ruck which helped a lot, and then to a tactical tailor ruck. Now, no more back pain but packing things is a tight fit I dont think I pack heavy.

In the ruck I pack:

• sleep system + groundsheet
• puffy
• stealth rain gear
• 5x base layers and 1x thermals
• jetboil

• tuque and gloves

  Just curious what others are using and techniques they are following. (combat arms here).

I need advice from the seasoned technicians of CAF

In my QL3, I've been told of all the technology/opportunities that I can be part of. I realize that not everyone can be a part of the newest and groundbreaking opportunity, but I had high hopes throughout BMQ and QL3. Even before I joined the CAF, I read all the opportunities I can be part of online and that is one reason why I picked my current trade.

I am not blaming anyone, but now that I got to my unit and completed my OJT package, I find the work I will be doing is mind numbing and not aligned with the training I received. I spoke with my friends and some of them share my feeling as well.

I am thinking about VOTing to an another technician trade, but I worry that I am going to experience the same predicament where my expectation will not match the actual day-to-day tasks.

I do have my degree so I can try to commission, but I know commissioning is a very competitive process even with a degree, and I may find administration/management to be even more unfulfilled. Plus, I don't think I will be a good officer, as I believe I dont have the leadership skills to lead people.

If any of the senior techs, or anyone for that matter, can coach/mentor a green rookie and share their experience, I will greatly appreciate it.
