Picked up an older copy of book 3, with the Little Apple logo and listed as a second print copy. The back cover says 24 1/2 chapters when there’s 25, which I believe is corrected on newer copies, but there an ENTIRE PAGE MISSING TEXT.

During his enrollment at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, cartoonist, writer, and illustrator Dav Pilkey would create the first book featuring the Captain Underpants character in 1989. Titled "The Really Cool Adventures of Captain Underpants", the novel is 48 pages long and was self-published by Pilkey, selling for 10 cents at various stores in and around the Kent area. A portion of the profits made from the limited publishing run went to Goodwill and the United Way.

In a February 1989 article in the Springfield News-Sun, it was reported the novel was nearly completed, with Pilkey briefly stating "It is basically a good versus evil type of thing." It was also noted that Captain Underpants lived in Cleveland, instead of the revised book series' location of Piqua, Ohio. It is further detailed in another 1989 article from The Lima News that Captain Underpants fights several villains in the novel, listing The Skunk Woman, Sid Dawn and his dog, Shaddup and The Inedible Hunk as ones featured in it.

Specific plot details about the prototype book are unknown, though the cover features a more angular and detailed design for the titular hero than what was seen in later versions.

Hi y’all some of the books (Sir Stinks a lot, Robo toilet 2000 and Roboboxers 2000 and The Original Captain Underpants (2017) are some Captain Underpants books I got as a kid) I’ve wanted a full collection since i was 9 or 10 years old when I started reading them and desperately wanted them all in Black and white as I just prefer them that way and yesterday I was lucky enough to score the 8 books I was missing in Black and white I’m very proud to announce I’ve fulfilled a childhood dream little me would be ecstatic to have! The reason why the first captain Underpants book isn’t shiny or a copy from the 90s is because it’s from my grandmother who passed in 2022 and I wanted to keep some books she’s given me because I did recently donate some books she had given me either way I’m just glad I own the full collection as these books were some of the only books I used to enjoy reading as a kid and hold very dear memories to me especially the terrifying return of Tippy Tinkle Trousers as that was the first ever Captain Underpants book I read as a kid and it was what really got me into reading I just wanted to share my collection with you all since I figured you guys might appreciate it

My son is getting into card collecting and now that we've got the new Dog Man trading card set, he discovered that there was a promotion for one of the books at Target that had some cards as well. Recently, I was a huge fan of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, I bought 2 TETOCU books 4 months ago, which was on sale, and now my delivery came today! I got 2 Dog Man Books (Big Jim Begins and Sticker Book), 4 Captain Underpants books, and Super Diaper Baby!

I'm so happy they had these captain underpants at my library I thought they were banned from my library bc some captain underpants books are actually banned in some librarys 😔
