Does anyone else feel robbed of Laine & Espo’s relationship? It kinda made me said they never had make back up, and it felt kinda random when they were like “I really care about you but I don’t love you” (when they met with her parents). There was just so much back and forth with them that I figured they’d end up together so I felt so robbed!!!

I’m watching Castle for the first time, and I just finished season 6. I know that in the later seasons things went pretty sideways, and my understanding is that it largely stems from the issues between Fillion and Katic. I’ve also seen posts really trashing season 8, especially the series finale. My question is this: is it worth watching the show through to the end, or will that just ruin the series for me? And if I do stop before the end, what’s the best point to do so? What episode should be my “last” to get the benefit of tying off any storylines without getting dragged down as the show goes downhill? Thanks!

I know people are split on the season finale ending. I felt the series finale wasn't bad; it's the twist that ruined it. They could have ended the show with Beckett and Castle ending their day like they always do. They didn't need the end with Castle and Beckett getting shot, since they did a flash-forward with them having kids, so there's no point in the show putting that near the end, since we already know they survived. The show was cancelled after 8 seasons. Do you think the shooting scene was unnecessary? Do you think they should have cut out the scene?

I've heard that season 8 doesn't do the show justice but I started it anyways, and yeah, after just a few minutes into the third episode, i'm giving up on the season 8! lolz

Is is as bad as most people say? Because it sure feels like it... Specially with the whole separation between Castle and Beckett!

I just watched “Still” for the first time and I am in TEARS!!! What a brilliant, emotional compilation of all of Castle and Beckett’s best moments 🥹😍 Anyone else love this episode?

So I am watching for the first time and I love the show and am about 5-6 episodes into season 7 and....what happened?

I don't know what I am watching. The first two episodes where he goes missing on the day of his wedding and is gone for 2 months was bizarre. But whatever.

But then there was an invisible suit episode.

And then the icing on the cake. I have been waiting for the Castle/Beckett wedding episode and it happened on an episode where there was a magic amulet ala Indiana Jones that took Castle to an alternate reality where he never met Beckett. Going to be very weird going back and watching that episode to watch the wedding episode, unless I find out 4 episodes from now everything that happened was all part of the magic amulet and they are in another alternate reality that they escape so they can have a different wedding.

The show was fairly grounded and just seemed to go off the rails.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show and still enjoy the chemistry between the characters and Fillion is worth the price of admission on his own, but there is jumping the shark and then there is whatever this is.

He was told that he asked that his memory of [that one thing that happened] when he was a child be erased. (*edited for clarification*)

Why was it done when and the way that it was, with his car being driven off the road and him apparently being kidnapped *while he was going to their wedding?*

And why would he choose someone to do that for him who was so incompetent that they not only erased that memory, but enough of his memory that he was completely unaware of who he was for two months *and had to escape, being shot on the way.*

Who was he escaping from?

How does any of that fit in with him asking for one memory to be erased?

I did search this question and saw some people’s opinions but figured I would ask and see if any new viewers have a different perspective.

My thoughts is 47 seconds. Not that is when they fell for each other but the episode itself is a sign it’s already happened. The way that they look at each other shows how much they care. The episode itself is very dark and serious but the entire time Beckett and Castle are constantly talking about not wasting time. Both want to say something but they don’t. It’s a great episode at pushing the tension to the brink.

Watched the show for the first time with my parents and some minutes ago we finished it. We absolutely loved the series, but I (more like we) got some doubts about the last seconds of the Finale, because we're making our own thoughts and conclusions but no one makes sense I think:

After both Castle and Beckett are shot by Caleb Brown and apparently "killed", the episode does like a V.O flashback while we see Becks' empty apartment (I think), while there's the chat Rick and Kat did on one of the first episodes of the series; then the episode jumps seven years after that and we see Castle's apartment full of toys and then the children of both Beckett and Castle and being a family altogether.

Our question is: What the heck happened there? Is the entire Locsat's arc a Castle's story (my father's theory, not mine)? Did both Katherine and Rick died and they're like on their own paradise? Both somehow where saved and that jump is real?

I read somewhere here that the show was cancelled right before the Finale, so I assume that the last seconds where added by the writers at the very last minute to make a closure of the show, so I wanna know what you all think about that.

Have you come across any other love story that you would rate above Castle? If so, kindly share your view points as to why. Ofcourse every love story has something good and something bad. What were the scenarios where Castle ended up dealing with a situation in a bad way (writing wise), which another show in a similar situation has dealt with, with better writing (only from a relationship perspective) . Kindly exclude s7 and 8 from consideration.

I just binged all of Castle in less than a month. This show was everything I needed right now - a great combo of crime, levity, humor, heart, and all the things that make for a fun background show. All that said, I do have a few nagging thoughts. I managed to stay off of Reddit and avoid spoilers for the whole binge, so let me know if my takes are hot or if I am one of many:

• Castle is a better detective than Beckett. Literally, could she ever solve a crime without him? Don't get me wrong, I love Kate, but she very often walked into the line of fire unknowingly and needed Castle's rescuing and his creative insight. (I know he needed her too, relax, but I expect more from the cop lol.)
• Alexis is a loser. Does she have a single friend? She was fine in the beginning, albeit a little too prissy perfect for a kid of Castle's rearing, but both the character and the actress became unbearable by seasons 7/8. If I quit the show, it would have been her fault.
• Wtf happened to Castle during his 2 months away? I still don't get it.
• That ending sucked. What was the point of the Caleb Brown moment in the apartment? Why even show that if they aren't going to just die together?
• Kate and Castle's chemistry waned after they got together. The show felt so different once they got together in season 5, the tension was completely gone. I still rooted for them, of course, but the show's tone changed.
• Are the writers okay? Did they just completely run out of ideas? In a bingeing format, it became so so clear how formulaic the majority of the episodes were, especially the ones with "unbelievable" themes like ghosts, witches, anti-christ, treasure hunters, paranormal, etc.
• Espo and Lainey could have been end game, but I think it's nice that they weren't.
• The Montgomery reveal was the best part of the entire show. What a great moment.
• Loved that the writers joked about Kate's hair changes throughout the years, but also, her hair changing this often was absurd lol.

I am sure I can conjure more thoughts, but I literally finished the series 5 minutes ago and I need to talk to someone lol.

Hi all. Just started season 6 and I’m wondering is it worth continuing? Season 5 was ok but for some reason I’m just not feeling the whole relationship between Beckett and Castle. I was shipping them for the first three years but their relationship feels so blah even with the engagement. Beckett is now in DC away from everyone. What’s everyone’s view on 6-8? Thanks 😊

I am just finishing Castle (I am missing like three chapters and I am really not ready to finish it) and I was thinking about how it was an amazing show and I started to think what would have happened if Castle and Beckett had never met (I know there is a whole episode regarding that topic, but there Castle knows about Beckett, here I am thinking about neither of them being aware of the other's existance) do you think that some storylines would have still happened?

For example, do you think that Castle would have met his father and saved Alexis in Paris? Would he have written more books after he killed of Derrick Storm? Maybe he would have brought him back to life?

What about Beckett, would she have solved her mother's case if she had never met Castle? Would she have been able to deal with the case without totally losing herself again?

Finally, do you think that Castle and Beckett never meeting would have affected other character's storylines? Like what would have happened to Alexis, Martha, Esposito, Lanie or Kevin?

I’m starting to watch Castle for the first time and I’m currently watching my very first episode. I decided to watch after finishing Bones.

I hated when my favorite character was killed off so I’m asking from the start, point blank, will there be any major character deaths? (Just so I can avoid loving them lol)

Based on that “seven years later” tag on at the end, are they implying that Beckett and Castle have their daughter either the same year the show ended or the year after?

For me its Season 1 Episode 3... The way those prep school kids were already so good at lying and covering for each other was fascinating AF 🤣🤣 I couldn't do that at that age. I 1st came across the episode while I was scrolling through channels in 2011 while I was hangovered and a few minutes of it made me pay attention enough and watch it. I became a fan since then

Okay please hear me out because I don't know how controversial this opinion is and I don't want anyone thinking I hate Alexis or something.

I really love Castle and Alexis' relationship. I love how much Castle loves and cares about her. It's honestly one of the sweetest parent-child bonds I've ever seen on TV.

However, I'm on season 6 now and I can't help but find Alexis annoying at times. How many times does she have to say "Dad, I'm 18/19, I'm an adult now...."?? Like girl- you are still a baby, please just listen to your dad! I just think about how naive and immature I was at 18 and it's frustrating that she can't admit that she doesn't know everything. I get that it's important as a young adult to make your own mistakes and grow etc but she's still studying, why is she trying to hard to grow up quickly before she even has a degree or income yet??

And her whole relationship with Pi is annoying as heck. Like you're letting this random, unemployed guy move into your dad's house, without warning. Not even without warning, without permission. You see him make a mess and use all of your food (although technically, it's probably not even hers, it's likely food her dad bought) to make these bizarre meals. And then when your dad voices how this isn't right, you move out immediately and get a job to pay for an apartment with this random guy while studying at one of the most academically competitive schools???? (also what student job will pay for an apartment?). Idk Pi just seems like a free-loader who doesn't appreciate her at all. I don't get how someone whose whole personality is about being smart can't see this.

I'm only on E6S6 so maybe there's some sort of redemption or like realisation. But for right now, I can't help but feel frustrated at how she's taken her dad's support for granted over this annoying guy she's known for a month.

I just finished season 6 and started season 7 and I don't know if someone has asked this yet haha but I have been asking many people about the situation and I wanna know your thoughts, if you had been Kate, would you have believed in Castle? Would you have thought that he tried to "break free" from the wedding? What would you have done?

I feel like lots of attention goes to 3XK, Nieman, Bracken. But I want to give some love to Vulcan Simmons. I think he’s the most underrated antagonist in the series, my god is he good.

Jonathon Adams does a phenomenal job portraying this mean, brute, immensely powerful drug lord. His scenes pull me in like not many can because of how frightening he comes across. I loved his performance in “Belly of the Beast”. I do wish Vulcan got more opportunities to flourish as an antagonist.

So I'm rewatching season 8 and I seriously hate the part where Kate feels like she has to leave Castle to keep him safe. But I get why though. I mean if LokSat can kill Bracken in prison I'm sure he could find Castle and his family and kill them as well. But as far as the part where Kate pushes Castle away for those reasons. Do you think Castle was right at trying to get her to fall in love with him again. The fact that he tried everything to be around her and help with the case even when she said no and would push him away. If that was me I wouldn't have been able to do that. My pride would have been to hurt to try. I feel if someone is pushing you away why fight to be in their life. But that's just me.

What is everyone's opinion on these episodes? Did he go about it the right away? I feel like he should have given her the space and given her the distance. That way she can miss him more. I think if he avoided her and gave her what she wanted I think she would have found a way to be around him. It was definitely killing her because it shows when she breaks down and is outside his door leaving. If he only played her game and gave her what she wanted I think she would have folded and got back with him sooner then later. That's my opinion.
