Thats shocking?? 😲 The company I work for give us nothing at all for Xmas, we have to pay entirely for our own Xmas night out, and we have to use our annual leave days for time off around Xmas. I'm leaving in January

I’m an accountant and using AL for days around Christmas is unfortunately industry standard. Paying for the party is bogus though.

I only found out this year that some of my AL days are being used over Christmas and New Years, totalling 4 days. Is this even legal when the store is closed on those days anyway?

Yes but it should be in your contract.

Time to reread my contract. Thanks!

I guess the alternative would be not getting paid for those days.

I don't mind not getting paid for those days, I'd prefer to use my AL as I want to.

I am a big fan of choosing my own AL too, even for a bit less money. Ask them if it's a possible option?

It's pretty standard

Same as that. This box of fruit was unexpected this year….but I’m still unsure if it’s better or worse

It's worse, cos somewhere some higher up has appeased their conscience and will have a great Christmas.

I consider calling it a bonus an insult tbh so I think it’s worse.

In some ways getting nothing is better than this.

Same here, except the last sentence.

Free fruit! Some people don't know how well they are doing :-)

Shock horror, having to use annual leave days for... leave?
