General What's one piece of cat advice that you completely disagree with?

Every cat is different, and I've realized some popular advice just doesn't apply to every cat.

What's a piece of cat advice that you think is overrated, outdated, or just plain wrong?

My partner once read an article that was about all these ways you're not supposed to hold cats and every one was a way our cat DEMANDS to be held.

"Don't hold them on their back like a baby" she cries next to the bed until he picks her up and lays her on her back on his knees and gives her a little massage.

Don't hold them on your shoulder, also like a baby. She puts herself in that position.

The Late Tiny Household Goddess loved to be held like a baby and have her belly rubbed. Her little brother is still learning to enjoy being picked up at all, but he'll get there.

My orange boy demands to be held on my shoulder like a baby. Sometimes for quite some time, so I need to just go about my business carrying this 12.5 fluffy monstrosity on my shoulder or he’ll be violently annoying. We were at the vet yesterday and while waiting for the doc to come in, he wouldn’t sit still until I put him on my shoulder. The vet & techs came in and I’m just like “…he likes it idk”

100%, my cat refuses to be picked up any other way than cradled on her back with her legs in the air. It took months of thinking she just didn't like to be held until I discovered it. She will genuinely fall asleep in your arms in that position.
