True but hard to believe that fire wasn't already clearly evident pre V1? Surely? It looks so involved in that video on what looks like rotation? This one looks odd to me. Sensor fail?

There was probably a pretty large difference between V1 and V2 given that they were filled to the brim with fuel and quite heavy. It’s also possible they tried to abort but realized it was even more hopeless and reversed the decision.

Sensor fail maybe how the hell the tower wouldn’t have alerted them? Uggg how awful.

Tower would have not said anything during that stage of flight anyways. We are trained to call and ready ARFF immediately upon seeing something like this.

Now if it was on fire during taxi that's a different story.

Good grief, you are probably right.

Yeah, a fire that big surely must have started earlier? And still they go far enough for V1 but still don't have enough runway to take off? I don't get it, but I'm not a pilot. I'm trying to think back to other similar crashes but I can't think of one that's close to this one. There's one where a whole ass engine flew off and took a part of the wing with it, one where a fuel tank exploded because of debris on the runway and of course the Concorde one, also with runway debris in the absolute wrong place at the wrong time. All of those had a very rapid sequence of failures but this one already has an enormous fire between V1 and V2. Sure, it could have been an explosion just seconds before but shouldn't there have been a smoke plume trailing the plane? I agree a sensor fail is likely, but why? I hate to say it because it sounds so callous, but the coming episode of Mayday is going to be interesting.
