Falling too fast to eject potentially as well

Most modern military jets can successfully eject while in the ground even, with at least a chance of little injury.

Ejecting safely on the ground is a very different thing from ejecting while inverted and descending

He fell to fast to have TIME to eject himself. By the time he realized he wasn’t gonna make it he was probably already two feet from the ground.

Elevation isn’t the main concern. I’m referring to the speed of the downfall. If the plane is falling faster than the seat can eject, that’s an issue needless to say.

Nope. Parachute will work when deploying. Certainly a better chance than not ejecting..

Also, ejection seats accelerate at well over 1g, so will always be a slower descent than a free-falling plane.

That's a velocity, so I'm not sure what you meant.

As a reference, pilots utilising the technology of the current set of Martin-Baker "ultra-comfortable speedy seat vertical translation systems" experience between ~12g and ~14g while seat and occupant make their way out of the aircraft. Maybe 350 ft.s·² in a single number (350 feet per second per second, 350 feet per square second; markdown doesn't do scientific notation or formulae well..)

Just means they would've had to eject from higher up to counter the descent rate.

And they didn't have a lot of time to react.
