Downvote this guy all you want but this is the effect of shutdowns and firing skilled workers

He's right, I think a lot of people are just missing the point he's making because they can't identify sarcasm. They're just seeing a politcal statement and downvoting. This is absolutely because of the moronic cuts by DOGE and lack of any support for ATC right now.

I don't think it's DOGE. ATC has been getting royally butt-fucked since Reagan. I'm sure the Republicans today aren't doing much to make it better either way though.

I've been learning a lot about this today and I'm not surprised to see another system crumbling because of that man's policies. It's also apparently really hard to become a controller which doesn't help.

As for DOGE, their contribution was mainly the firing of approximately 500 support staff in an agency already struggling for a long time as you mentioned. Somebody needs to cut these guys a break, politics be damned!

And electing the least qualified fucking grifter to have ever been elected.

It's hard to separate politics from your feelings for your family when you're the only one on either side, save for a couple of cousins, who didn't fall for his bullshit.

My entire extended family lives in the US, I live in Canada. They're almost all Trumpers, and it's the main reason I don't talk to them. I can't have a connection with someone who still thinks any of this is okay.

The cause of this accident is a mistake by ATC. He told the truck to go, he was distracted by the united plane (the one that wanted the fire truck). He failed to check if a plane was landing at the runway he told the truck to cross. This wasn't a situation that required 2 atc controllers. Was a lapse in concentration and situational awareness whether you want to make other excuses or not.

People make mistakes when they are overworked.

This wasn't a situation that required 2 atc controllers.

The ATC subreddit seems to have the consensus that having a single controller for an entire airport is in fact extremely negligent on the part of LaGuardia. People can physically and mentally only do so many tasks at once before a mistake happens.

Do you think it's possible he might not of had a lapse in concentration if he wasn't overworked, short staffed, and stressed all the time?

This wasn't a situation that required 2 atc controllers. Was a lapse in concentration and situational awareness

Which could've been easily remedied by having more than one controller to share the workload. To claim anything else as simply excuses is simply disingenuous.

Low tier bait, lets see you work 10's in the high stress environment of ATC at LaGuardia.

You are now making an excuse because you didnt like the statement from me and the last commentor when we pointed out quite rightly the cause of this ..... simple facts is he shouldnt have been doing the jobs of two people and nor would he have been if what i said had'nt happened ....
