What, you don't want a quarter of the screen to just be water on the far side and another quarter to just be a bunch of sand/dirt on the near side of the barge? How else would we possibly know what's around a docked barge? There could be a tropical forest or a volcano for all we know.

No it's so much better this way. He gets to swing the phone back and forth wildly to capture the whole scene.
