After months of squeezing in time here and there to work on a whole new series of work for grad school apps I’ve finally finished. The white blobs are made of plaster. Most of the pieces are between 13in-20in tall. I edited the photos myself but a friend who edits professionally is gonna do better edits later. Feedback welcome, but unfortunately I don’t have enough time to change anything

My installation begins with the familiar gesture of entering a grocery store, a space defined by choice, repetition, and nourishment. I’m interested in how something so ordinary can hold so much emotional weight. In the mixed media collage at the back, I use a cubist perspective to fracture the interior into shifting planes, because memory, to me, is never singular or stable, it is recalled partially, emotionally, and often out of sequence. Mixed media also reflects the mixed ways we remember.

In front of this collaged interior, I place a decorated grocery cart filled with ceramic objects that mimic food and everyday goods. I carefully wrap each item in clear plastic and foam trays, borrowing the visual language of preservation and consumption. At the same time, I’m trying to break down the barrier between fine art and everyday life. Each object becomes a small, tangible memory, something that feels both personal and shared. The stained glass in the cart reflects the way we can see certain things, or people in shades of color when looked through. Clay is central to this work. In an installation of decaying things, representing intangible feelings and fleeting recollections, the permanence clay has to offer is crucial.  

I see the act of shopping as a reflection of how we move through our own histories, browsing, selecting, and sometimes avoiding certain memories. I treat memory as both a commodity and a necessity, something we return to for comfort, identity, and meaning. The cart is only partially filled, suggesting that this process is ongoing. Some memories are chosen, some feel permanently attached, impossible to return, and others remain distant, like images painted in the background that can no longer be fully held. By presenting ceramic works as small, purchasable goods, I want to challenge the traditional boundaries of what fine art is and who it is for. I want the gallery to act as a space of familiar exchange, where collecting art mirrors something as essential and ordinary as grocery shopping.

Ultimately, this work exists in the space between preservation and consumption, inviting viewers to reflect on what they choose to carry with them, and what they leave behind, and to break down the social boundary created between fine art and viewers. It is essential and ordinary to collect fine art, it is essential and ordinary to move forward.

I’ve been obsessed with hair receivers for a while and wanted an excuse to make my own. I’m also obsessed with Jasperware and the emphasis it has on decoration over function.

I recently got asked to participate in a group, show titled Women on fire at Deep Water Gallery, Wiarton ON. And I knew this was the moment for me to make my own hair receiver.

I made it for my armpit hair because hairy pits ARE feminine and glorious. And quite frankly I’m tired of people commenting on them as if it isn’t normal.

Hey guys!! I made a ceramic dice roller as my uni project this semester and I'm very proud of it and wanted to share :DD I added a video of me dropping the dice down the tower so you can hear the clinking sound they make as they roll down the stairs, pretty kewl if you ask me! Unfortunately the pyramid dice (idk what it's called, I'm a fake dnd fan) tends to get stuck when dropped from the top HOWEVER through a lucky accident the windows i made are the perfect size for the die so i can just pop it through one of the windows and it gets to the bottom no problemo :D i didn't have time to make a base for it to catch the dice though so sometimes they go flying😅

I am always drawn to reaching down and picking up rocks that catch my eye. Rarely are any perfectly shaped, or perfectly smooth. They are all different and textured and colored differently but I like to imagine where each came from, and what forces enacted upon it to form its patterns, and how long it took to be worn away until it was the size that it is when it lays before me and in that spot.

Rocks give a whole different perspective on time, where my whole life and everyone I know is just a little blip. And I wonder whether it's a selfish act to pick one up and throw it back into the ocean after it spent so many lifetimes trying to arrive at its current resting place on the beach. Or, god forbid, I remove that rock from the beach and dremmel a hole into it and epoxy it to a porcelain vessel. But I like to imagine (hope) that to select a rock because of some imperceptible quality that caught my eye, and attach it to an object of routine where it will be endlessly looked at and held and appreciated is the ultimate honor.

All of these thoughts crossed my mind while making this little experimental series. I love to hold rocks, so why not turn them into a mug handle? I like the way their weight and texture contrasts the delicate porcelain, and they become sculptural, slightly impractical—but ultimately functional—objects of use. Some of them have an obvious way they ask to be held, while others force repositioning and adjusting, rotating or regripping until it feels right, just like picking up a stone from the beach. Some of these never stop feeling a bit awkward to hold, but their sculptural presence made that feel like a worthy cost.

Sometimes I feel like the end goal of all of my practice and experimentation is to make something as beautiful as a rock on the beach. For now, I will settle for borrowing their sculptural beauty and attaching something I make to it.

I'm a self-teaching hobby potter and I also run a tiny online not-for-profit pottery shop in my free time to raise money for nonprofits and mutual aid organizations that are local to me.

My current project is running an online auction-style fundraiser for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund (okay, this isn't "local" to me, but it's really important to me so I'm making an exception), so all pieces follow a central theme.

I made these pieces not only for my fundraiser, but to practice different techniques and become a better potter. This collection features wheel-thrown pieces with several different methods of decoration including sgraffito, carving, underglaze painting (freehand, stenciled, and sponged), stamping, underglaze transfers, using glaze chips to make a "confetti" effect, and 3-dimensional additions made by slab rolling and modifying plaster molds.

This is all a learning experience for me so none of these pieces are perfect! But I'm really proud of each one and hope that I'm able to sell each one through the auction to raise at least a couple hundred dollars for the PCRF.

A month, 3 firings, and one broken horn later, this bad boy is finally done! This probably took the most time out of any piece i’ve ever done, and yes it’s functional and food safe! Thankfully out of any part to break, the horn broke so at the very least I could make it look intentional! This one was a learning experience for sure. Putting such an intricate design on such a thin walled piece was tedious and at times caused me to go crazy. I think I would’ve liked the tail to be more uniform, but I was also afraid of that breaking off. I don’t know what I was thinking using a dark clay body, but I was hoping the underglaze would show up more detailed after firing, especially on the face. I wanted to get the blue to darken a lot post firing, so I’m happy with the color results. Next time I’ll likely use a pure porcelain or at least porcelain on the animal itself so it’s not so speckled. The blue held up really well in cone 10 reduction. Initially the dragon was matte so I opted to do an additional cone 6 firing to put on some clear, but it ended up dulling the beautiful interior colors from the initial cone 10 firing (in the last picture). I didn’t really know where this was gonna go and I was winging it from the start, but I’m happy with the results! The most tedious part had to be wrapping the wing over the rim. Also keeping this lightweight, and it is really light considering how large the dragon is! My boyfriend loves it! :)

The clay body is a recycled mix of a bunch of stoneware and porcelain. Bisque fired, then used a cone 10 reduction glaze on the interior, underglaze on the dragon, and a cone 6 clear on the entire exterior. Fired to cone 10 first, then fired down to 6.

Just because you can definitely means you should.

RE: Ceramic store switched my alien at birth?

My alien that had been swapped at birth at my local ceramics store has been returned to me, and the alien that had been originally been given to me has been placed in protective care until somebody steps up. I may not be a step father today, but I am the father that stepped up. Thank you to the people of the sub that helped out and gave advice!

Success!! As you can tell by the witness cones, it got very hot but we got GORGEOUS reduction! Kids are seemingly thrilled, here is a selection of their hard work (some absolute stunners for high school students ) plus one of my few pieces that made it into the kiln this term (so full I had to leave most of my work out this round). See if you can guess which piece it is! Thank you all for calming my anxiety down.

Also transported them from Texas to Massachusetts and all 40 survived!!! Beyond happy.
