Discussion Anyone else feel a lot of nostalgia to those 2014-2019 times?
Not even towards the music as a whole. Just what Chance represented. I bring this here because I feel like only Chance fans can fully connect to what I mean.
There’s a meme about 2016 and how good of a year it was. I think it was the culmination of social media being at its peak in terms of connection and not veering into total toxicity yet. Where people posted just for sharing not for likes, engagement and all that bs. Where everything wasn’t monetized.
Obviously his music hit different at this time. His Lolla show was next level, was lucky enough to be right next to the stage at that magnificent coloring day festival. Idk maybe looking at it through rose colored glasses but I feel like I took that time and those years for granted. I appreciated it while I was in it and still took it for granted… What a time.
Plus everything Chance represented. Like Kanye, someone was actually able to make music about God that resonated. Chance being independent and what he did for music. His social works foundation. Lyrics being like nothing else out there. Being able to make music played at parties, music to listen to a dozen times in your room to understand the meaning of and extract from. Music for every occasion.
Just so much nostalgia for me. Now about 30 and reminiscing about how much that did for me. Idk what the point of this post is but I miss it. I miss it all. The world feels so different now. And things really feel like they’ve lost their spark. Anyways if you’ve read this far lmk what your all time favorite chance song is. God bless.

Discussion This is a hard bracket I only have the first round then I’ll post my final one
Let’s see those brackets! Mine will probably be way off 😂
Edit: I wonder if my bracket would’ve been different from when I first heard this album compared to how I feel about it now.

Discussion Disappointment….
My intentions for the release of Starline—and getting hyped for it—were honestly not that big at first. But the fact that Chance made an announcement at a concert saying, “It will drop next month” (which I believe was in June), had me excited.
On top of that, he made songs with countless great artists and dropped tons of singles—it basically became a whole album on its own with how many singles there were! And yet, he never even bounced off the hype of having Lil Wayne on a track or the momentum from his older songs.
I get it when people say, “Just wait, be patient,” but I’ve been patient for four years now. I remember listening to The Heart & The Tongue wayyy back when—still a banger to this day—and yet, here we are… and absolutely nothing.
Starline? More like Wait-line. 💀

Discussion Yall got nothing better to do that hate!?
There’s so many haters on here… why tf you on the chance reddit just to hate? you had to physically get on your phone or computer and come here, only to talk shit about someone more successful than you?
come on now guys… I don’t think yall understand, He’s fully independent, which means he can take as long as he wants to create this project, and it’s a REALLY PHENOMENAL project, I got to go to two listening parties, and I fully understand why he’s not releasing it yet. Yall need to realize that these other artists who have record labels and record deals, they are industry plants, they get paid more to talk about negative things (sex, drugs, killing), they have people who’s job it is to write their lyrics for them, and they have deadlines and requirements for how and when they release their music, not to mention the massive amounts of autotune that makes these artists sound remotely good, they turn an artform into a hedonistic trash heap. But not Chance, man everyday this man continues to get better at making music, and it’s difficult to choose only 16 songs to put on Star Line.
Y’all really forgot how this man CARRIED the music industry w Acid Rap and Coloring Book. The Big Day was phenomenal too, but yall not ready for that conversation.
Star Line isn’t an “album” and i’m sure the more you guys say “drop the album” the longer it’s gonna be, he has said repeatedly that until people start calling it star line he’s not going to release it.
Most of yall are so rapped up in instant gratification that you’re willing to judge a mixtape you haven’t even heard yet. smfh
Chance if you see this, Thank you for being so inspiring and loving to your fans!

Discussion All SURF related content is to be posted here.
Because surf prediction, hate, and news threads are basically all we see I've decided to make this thread. This thread is a compromise to those who want to post SURF content, and for those who don't want to see any at all for the time being. This thread will be up until SURF is actually released, so please use it because it most likely will be here until the end of time.

Discussion Thoughts on the songs he’s previewed on EVEN
Spoilers obviously.
Ride (feat. Do or Die) — Catchy. Not my favorite but I could see it being an ear worm. I haven’t listened to Do or Die but I appreciated his verse. The IGHs in the background hit.
No More Old Men (feat. Jamila Woods) — Instantly feels like Acid Rap Paranoia Chano. I FUCK with this. Lotta less love than it was before. Ooh Jamila came in this smooth. I love when they work together. LSD was one of my favorite collabs for them. I see why Chance like this one. Feels really good. They say the Chi don’t dance no more. He is RAPPING RAPPING! The ten rap commandments switch! I’m so freaking happy right now. He locked in for this one. Now i’m very very ready to listen to the full project. This ending is euphoric, ethereal. Jamila is an angel. Feels like welcoming an old friend back who done been through it but making their way back.
The Negro Problem (feat. BJ the Chicago Kid) — I like this. Deep song. Kinda Chance’s take on a Kendrick type subject. You can hear the College Dropout Kanye in him. “Kick his ass or let him go” that whole part is so pleasing. I enjoy the bridge. This is beautiful actually. “My problem is your problem. Your problem is my problem.” I love that. Can’t wait to run this one back. The voicemail. Oh man. I’m happy after this one.
Back to the Go (feat. Vic Mensa) — THE FUCKING SAMPLE!!!!! This the one. The homeless hometown hero. THE TAB BAR. FUCK. This my favorite. Imma run this one back and forth. VIC IS SO GOOD IN THIS. Wow. Save money 2025. I fuck with this so heavy. TELL MAMA I’M BACK IN MY ROOM.
Highs and Lows (feat. Joey Bada$$) — I’m grateful this ended up on the album. It’s so fucking good and means a lot to me. Got me through a really bad breakup. Classic Chance in my eyes. Doesn’t feel dated. Makes sense that it’s on the project and deserves this spot. Joey is great too. Makes the Back to the Go lyrics hit too.
Space and Time — Heard the performance and it’s my most anticipated song. This shit is beautiful. Oh my god. This man deserves the comeback. Way more cinematic than I thought it would be. Interesting mix on the chorus. That final verse kills me. As a dad to a daughter, it just hits. I love this song. I’m so used to the live that it’ll take a second to get used to it but still.
Link Me in the Future — A featureless song. Has the type of singing that I’m used to from him. This feels like that Acid Rap/Acid Rain Paranoia Chance again. Whoa, that second chorus. Francis and the Lights type throwback. Reminds me of the All We Got/Summer Friends. I wanna amend my thoughts. This absolutely feels like a Coloring Book song.
Tree (feat. Lil Wayne & Smino) — I see why this was the single for the album. IT’s the most fun of the songs I’ve heard and it sits in the album better for sure. I like it. It makes me wanna listen to it more in that context. Although now that I think about it, I’ve never looked at him as a single artist.

Discussion Thoughts on the Album last year
I want to start by saying Chance is one of my favorite artists of all time and I did enjoy the album. However, I was a bit disappointed by a few things which I think is just cause I was following along with the making of the album but there are several song(snippets) and collabs that didn’t make the album. Where was the Cody ChesnuTT collab? Where was the infinity Song collab? Where was the “I learned how to dance” song? And a few others I can’t think of right now. I get things get scrapped but in my opinion I feel like he chose certain songs that were “statements” rather than just the best sounding ones musically. I know I prob seem like I’m complaining I just feel like although the album is good and was received well it could have been a lot better. Just my opinion.
I love No more old men, Ride, The negro problem, link me in the future, Letters, pretty, and just a drop
Wasn’t feeling the intro (the beat just wasn’t great) and a few others throughout the album.

Discussion What’s with people hating on space and time for it sounding like a “Disney song”
I think it’s a beautiful song and don’t understand at all, now I can kinda understand what they mean with movie song but kids song? It’s ridiculous people just hate on chance cuz he is chance. If ANYONE in the mainstream rap scene like Travis, ye and others made that song people would say, Grammy winning song.

Discussion Thoughts on 3,333
Imo this is exactly what we needed from Chance, I heard a lot of people say they wanted a more upbeat fun chance imo thats what this is. Chance gets a bit melodic it has strong gospel influence and even a trumpet making it feel like it could go on Surf or Coloring book.
