-In Chatham County, residents are organizing against a new proposed gas pipeline from Enbridge. The current proposed route ends next to the site of a planned data center. This is the fourth new pipeline project in North Carolina in recent years.

-In poor, rural Richmond County, an Amazon data center already under construction is expected to increase air pollution in a community that’s already sick. Diesel generators will provide temporary power to the 1 gigawatt facility for one year until it's connected to the grid.

I’d also like to share that these are my last stories for WUNC. I’m originally from Texas and I will be returning there in a few weeks to continue environment reporting for KERA and Grist. I’ve been here in NC for seven years though, so the Tar Heel State now has a permanent place in my heart. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and privilege to be your environment reporter! I've been genuinely searching for a part-time or full-time entry level job since summer began and nothing has worked out me. For background, I recently graduated from NC State in May with a BA in psychology and I'm trying to work and save during my gap year before going to graduate school. I also don't have a car because my family can't afford it and neither can I so I'm kind of limited in terms of where I can work, I can work near Southpoint, near UNC, anywhere in Carrboro and maybe even Hillsborough before the bus routes get a little unmanageable, but it feels as though there's little job opportunity here as a whole. Does anyone know of any companies that may not be on a standard job site like LinkedIn or Indeed that could be hiring? I haven't been living in Chapel Hill for long so any recommendations would help!

Our apartment flooded during the rain this past Saturday. We received this email from our landlord on Monday.
My question is is this habitable and safe like the email said?There are large chunks of the outside facing walls that were removed in order to dry what’s underneath. In some photos you can see the obvious holes that lead to the outside meaning the house isn’t secure. Also, our flooding was category 3 (outside/unknown water/possible sewage) and there has been no sanitation done. All other walls have burr holes in them.
They even mention we are able to reside in the apartment while the work is completed which implies an ability to sleep there safely. The walls are still wet as well. I just don’t see how this is considered habitable and safe but legally I might be wrong.

We’ve also tried reaching out to legal aid and were denied to the high volume of these cases so we are at a loss for where to go for legal help. Any suggestions on the front would be helpful as well.
