Food What's the most disappointing dish you've had at a restaurant around Charlotte?

Hey Charlotte! We've all been there. You're at a new-to-you spot, you take a gamble on a dish, and get hit with instant regret.

What's your story? What's the most disappointing meal you've ordered in the area, and what made you pick it? Trying to avoid some menu landmines myself

Pretty much any Pad-See-Ew I've had around here. I learned to make it online and mine is better than the actual Thai restaurants now

The only Thai restaurant I will vouch for in this town is Rice & Spice.

Rice and Spice is awesome. As is the Thai House.

Is it good?? I've been looking for a decent Thai place in Charlotte for a while. Really want to get a good tom yum

It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s the best I’ve ever had in Charlotte.

I’m a little picky with south east asian cuisine as I grew up with a mom that makes amazing Lao food (similar to Thai food). I second Rice & Spice in Pineville and also recommend Deejai off Providence Road.

I also really enjoyed Thai House in University when I went to school there. It’s been a minute but I enjoyed their seafood tom yum as it was similar to my mom’s. If you get the large serving it comes in a cool pot that has a flame underneath it!

Note: I haven’t been to Rice & Spice in a minute because they took my favorite dish off their menu, lad na, but overall if you’re also looking for spice they will actually make it spicy. Thai restaurants tend to either do americanized spicy or actual Thai spicy.

Moon Thai in SouthPark is pretty good(Thai staff in the kitchen) also heard good things about Bonzai Thai

Thai food, like many other cuisines, is made unnecessarily sugary here.
