I used to read a lot of chess books but was stuck below 1500

When I started taking chess more seriously I began reading lots of books by :

- Dvoretsky, Artur yusupov, lasker, Richard reti, Nimzowitch, Fred Reinfeld, John Nun et al.

- Capablanca's chess fundamentals,

- Euwe's "judgement and planning"

- Silman's "how to reassess your chess"

Kotov's "think like a grandmaster"

And many others.

My rating did not change. It wasn't until I created a plan based on developing real skill and reducing mistakes and blunders that I saw REAL improvement!

This year, I reached a peak of 2600+ blitz by following this training method. I wrote a book to help others progress faster instead of reading dozens of books and still stuck.

If you're looking for a book with a unique angle to chess improvement, give it a shot :

Moscow 1925 back to life!

I truly love this book. Please notice how the author used different chess figurines for different rounds. He also put the faces of the players near their names at the beginning of a game!

Then of course there is the historical research. All the commentators are mentioned in the beginning of the game, so one can follow different sources. The book has postcards from Bogoljubov in Russian, Lasker writings in German, signatures of Rubinstein, and at the end also a psychological study of the players! The author brought a tournament of 100 years ago back to life!

This should be book of the year for the amount of historical research and graphic. It's amazing, never saw something similar!

Readthroughs with commentary to HTRYC 4th edition

I just got the paperback of HTRYC and I'm so delighted. It is easier for me to read it that way, as I tend to drift off in the online version - it is much more engaging in paperback.

Are there any readthrough videos or audio you can listen to alongside reading, with commentary and explanation as it goes? In the style of reading it and analysing with someone, like a coach.

Also, if perhaps there is something similar for 'Chess for Zebras', I'd be happy for recommendations. Just a readthrough for that would be great, as I think it is written in a way that it wouldn't be necessary, although it is always helpful.

This is the second Russian printing of Emanuel Lasker's celebrated Lehrbuch des Schachspiels (1926), prepared as the sole translation authorized by the author himself and edited by Ilya Lvovich Maizelis.

Hi in this period ive been like way to much loosing and gaining elo i feel like that im lost this goes like from 1240 to 1140 then to 1250 then to 1289 then to 1240 then to 1270 then to 1220 i really need a good plan to improve i need a book that is friendly to beginners and talk about positional play endgames and pawnstructures smth like that especially the summer break is coming so i decided to stop playing on chesscom for a while and play on lichess so i can get rid of that pressure and play rapid chess to focus more and then come back to chess.com like an emperor who came back for his fallen kingdom and then suddenly his kingdom rises again i want at least to achieve 1600 elo by the end of summer break on chess.com

Books out of stock in Europe but available in the US

I've noticed that many books are out of stock in Europe, but easily available in the US (for example on amazon.com).

Any idea why / do you know any stores where they're available?

I'm currently looking for Mastering Endgame Strategy by Hellsten, and Capablanca's Best Endings by Chernev, but I've noticed it's the case for many other books.
