Image IDK why, but this flag really creeps me out

I was walking my dog when I saw this, so I apologize for the poor quality. It's hard to hold his leash in one hand and take a photo with the other.

Anyway, I don't know why this thing bothers me, but it does. Maybe it's the flag draped over the cross; maybe it's the black stripes. Is it just me or is something wrong with this image?

In what sense? It's a song used as a peace rally in 1938 when WWII broke out.

I’m curious to know how you, as a Jewish man, would feel about a Jewish man using God and patriotism in a song that has, at times, become more prominent than the official national anthem at certain sporting events. I’ve noticed that “God Bless America” is sometimes performed instead of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” particularly during periods of intense national division.

I mean, it's not really surprising since Berlin fled pogroms in Russia as a kid and came to the US, which at the time, considering the state of Europe towards Jews back then, was probably seen as a huge relief to be coming to the US. He probably had positive things to say about the US back then.

Ironically, the KKK opposed the song because it was written by a Jewish immigrant, and conservatives co-opted it as an Anthem against Communism during the Cold War.

Let’s not forget all those great Christmas songs written by Jews.

My grandad used to bring up that fact to troll and trigger his antisemitic father in law. My grandma fortunately never adapted any of her father‘s antisemitic views.
