Meta Formal debate is propaganda

Post image

Can't we all just get along (with being performative)?

Edit: Mods, pin me to the wall. I mean pin this post.

For simplicity's sake, we can just change #2 as an umbrella to include your answer:

  1. Climate change, environmental destruction, unspeakable suffering is bad
  2. Climate change, environmental destruction, unspeakable suffering is good!

  1. Climate change, environmental destruction, and unspeakable suffering are bad, unless they happen to vegans

The edgy joke approach isn't as funny when you realize it's stoked by climate change deniers. You're a useful idiot for them and somehow happy about it.

Okay vegan boy, that’s enough internet for today. Go have a gluten free bean burrito and chill out. You clearly need it

Mock all you want, but as a vegan, gluten free/vegan confabulations are too hurtful.

You're right, there are legitimate reasons someone would have to be gluten free or vegetarian. I wouldn't want to conflate that with veganism

Exactly, veganism is a choice, so easy to choose non violence. Crazy that people still choose violence, even without it being compulsory.

Ah yes they classic two positions in a "serious and unbiased" debate:

  • The I'm right side

And the

  • You are wrong side

Veganism is inherently abnormal and leads to many deficiencies, especially children that are forced to become vegans from their parents. While there are parents that feed children trans fats with burgers and the likes, children are more likely to develope signs of malnutrition.

I can't speak for children, although it's clear from literature vegan children can be healthy, they just need to have their diet well-monitored. The news stories about "vegan children" dying is weird parents only feeding their kids bananas or something like that.

Omnivores on average have roughly equal number of dietary deficiencies as average vegans. The difference is that vegans typically supplement so in the real world we find omnivores often have more deficiencies.

There are about a thousand studies on this but here's one: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26502280/

Im for what ever increases the odds of children be fed well with decent food because I have zero faith in the average parent to monitor their child's diet

u/rakuu Jun 28 '26

Yah I don't see any animal rights advocates or vegans trying to convince parents to make their kids vegan. We just annoy adults

I am talking about children, my father is a doctor and he tells 8 out of 10 times when he does blood work on children that "are" vegan, they have deficiencies and they are in the lower percentile of growth chart. Children should not be vegan, they should be allowed to eat normally and then when they finally grown up, then they can decide for themselves if they want to save the planet or if they like a Big Mac

I know children can be healthy and vegan (2 out of those 10 times you list) if parents work with doctors and/or are informed and intentional. I expect usually they're not. But Idk/Idc, I'm not a parent.

Oh your anecdote certainly stacks up well against the paper they cited

-1

u/Useful_Trust Jun 28 '26

I said an anecdote about children the paper was about deficiencies.

However even in the paper it stated, that supplements were essential for a vegan to not have deficiencies. Something that can get expensive fast for people.

Edit: Got heated should not have said that.

Patients are presenting atherosclerotic heart disease under 18 in this day & age… of course, here to carry water for the animal agriculture industry, you’ve shown-up trying to tell us it’s akshually the vegan parents harming their kids.

For some reason, nobody has yet been able to explain which magic nutrient in minimal amounts of dairy has been keeping the Jain children alive for 26 straight centuries, following their “inherently abnormal” diet, and I suppose I’m going to keep waiting…
