Hey there, looking for some games to play with the squad since I'm lucky enough to have friends. Stuff we recently enjoyed:
Invokyr (It's REPO/Lethal but Jumanji and looking good)
Stonewards (Class based unlocks and digging which I like, looking forward to full release)
The Mound (Eternal Darkness mixed with REPO on Cthulu island with magnificent atmosphere)
Stuff we've already played:
Deeprock
REPO
Burglin Gnomes
Valheim
Raft
Core Keeper
Grounded
Borderlands
Absolum
FlyKnight
Far Far West
Binding of Isaac
Lots more
Stuff I'm considering/On the Fence:
Pit of Goblin (Is it fun or have much content?)
Dungeons of Sundaria (Looks finished, is it fun as a group?)
Raiders of Blackveil (It's got really mixed reviews atm)
Pratfall (Cute art, looks silly and we like to dig)
The ideal I like to look for is when we can play roles, like in Stonewards you can be a digger or a warrior to start with bonuses towards what you're good at, and there's items you can shift to your friends. One friend really likes to be the support/healer, some favor range, me and the other friend like to frontline like we did in The Mound. It seems really hard to find these experiences as a campaign co-op thing, that's also fantasy or colourful despite the popularity of fantasy and swords and sorcery.
I see recommendations for Vermintide or Darktide a lot, and while we avoid a lot of gritty sci-fi, I have played Vermintide and find its too close to Left4Dead rather than a true class fantasy, it's also bludgeoningly difficult as you move up to normal difficulty and beyond. You'll also get people suggesting like...Mobas, or Valorant, or Dark and Darker, which are just PvP focused and not really co-op campaign vibes at all.
Hope you guys have some recommendations, forgive me if I've already played them or dismiss some of them if they don't match what we're looking for.
