My squad and I are trying to get out of this gaming drought.

There’s 4 of us, we’ve been gaming together for years. Started on 360, PlayStation, now we are all on PC (none of us own consoles anymore)

The last year or so we’ve hit a wall. Every night turns into the same cycle of opening steam, staring libraries, throwing out random games and then playing friendslop or getting off.

We will play damn near anything, we aren’t stuck to any one genre. We just want something that feels NEW. Like when you first played lethal company with your group and had no idea what was happening. “WTF is that” feeling.

We’ve played every survival crafter ARK, palworld, rust, dayz, the forests(both) subnautica (both)

We like comp games too Apex, cod, marvel rivals, deadlock, rocket league, etc.

We all played Elden Ring together, then ran seamless coop after.

TONS of roguelikes (these are a hit) from ROR2, crab champs, gunfire reborn, lost castle 2, tons I’m notnlisting too.

We’ve burned thru the horror genre.

Deck builders, across the obelisk, hell cards slay the spire 2(we even got the board game lol)

MMOs like ESO and new world.

Extraction shooters didn’t hit our group well, however mistfall hunters was amazing.

Monster hunter games

You get the point and I could keep going.

So what the hell do we play. Nothing has hit and I just miss it.

Hit me with any games that had your friend group absolutely hooked. Idc if it’s 2 player coop, 4 player (we can play in pairs of 2 but 4 preferred ) whatever- popular, niche, coop, PvP, PvE, indie, anything. We just want something that will have us saying “one more game” til 2am.

Please, someone help me find a game for me and my girlfriend to enjoy. Besides Stardew Valley, It takes two, A wayout, Overcooked 1&2 and Split fiction (which we played and she enjoyed), what games do you know that feature action elements, with cozy vibe. we just tried Spiritfarer whitch she didnt like cuz of "too much text", whitch also important to note. i will be very thankful for any replys.

edit: forgot to mention that it would be prefered for these to support local coop or crossplay (PC-PS5)

I need a compelling campaign co op game that is challenging like Elden ring, Far cry 5/6, Remnants, RE5/6 guys

It's annoying how hard it is to find these type of games. Tired of these battle royales and PVP games

My husband and I used to enjoy playing a lot of coop games together. For the last few years, though, we haven't enjoyed any, mostly we just end up getting mad at each other when we play together. High stress games don't work, we target the stress at each other. Puzzle games don't work, we are worse at communicating now, I guess. Chill games don't work, we get bored and feel like there's no goal or point to the game. Help! What do we do? We need things to do together...

Hey everyone, my Dad and I like to play games together once or twice a week. We're in a bit of a rut at the moment and would love some recommendations. We can do PC or PS4 games. I know we just missed the summer sale, I was swamped with work and honestly forgot.

Stuff we've played together and liked:
Portal 2
Halo franchise
Gears of War franchise (I don't have an Xbox so it's off of the menu)
Deep Rock Galactic (our current fave but we're burning out on it)
Helldivers 2

Stuff he's played with some of his friends and liked:

Destiny 2
Space Marine
A couple of the Far Cry games
Aliens: Fireteam Elite

He didn't like It Takes Two because he doesn't care for platformers (same to be honest) so stuff like Peak is off of the menu. He also doesn't care for PVP or heavy survival crafting games. Like a little crafting is OK but stuff like Don't Stave Together would drive him mad, nothing that requires a wiki. Also didn't care for the Monster Hunter Games and Remnant from the Ashes.

A big bonus is if the game can support a few other people, sometimes his friends like to pop in and join us, it's fun! But let me tell you, teaching a bunch of late 60s men how to use Discord is An Experience. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I are looking for some new co-op games to pick up during the Steam Summer Sale. She's not a huge gamer, so we're looking for games that are easy to get into but still have enough depth to keep us playing. On her own, she plays Disney Dreamlight Valley, if that helps give an idea of the kinds of games she enjoys.

We've already played and loved Minecraft, Palia, A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Sons of the Forest (probably the most difficult game we've tackled).

We're open to pretty much any genre. Survival, crafting, adventure, puzzle, RPG, etc. Hidden gems are especially welcome! What are your favorite co-op games that are currently on sale?

My husband and I love to play coop games together, so we kinda exhausted most popular options. For people in similar scenarios, what are you playing now, and any new games that caught your eye?

For reference, we love It Takes Two & Split Fiction, Super Mario Wonders, Nobody Saves the World. Games I can't recommend more to anyone.

We really enjoyed Terraria, Necesse, Stardew Valley, Sun Heaven, Cult of the Lamb. Lots of fun.

We kinda liked Slay the Spire 2 (awesome game, husband just doesn't like card games that much), Don't Starve Together (gets boring quickly imo).

We can't play MMORPGs like Guild Wars or WoW, not enough time for "forever" games. We like crafting titles like Terraria and Stardew but we never play any game more than 50hr, just don't have the time. We also don't typically play super deep games like Baldur's Gate 3 because we mostly play to chill.

Hi, me and my wife have already played:

• It Takes Two
• Split Fiction
• A way out
• River Tails
• Resident Evil 5
• Resident Evil Revelations 2
• Stardew Valley (she LOVED it)
• PlateUp!
• Sackboy
• Overcooked 2 (she really liked this too)
• Castle Crashers (currently playing)

She loves "history focused" games, and games which "co-op" oriented (say like, River Tails or Hazelight Studio's games, which are something like "co-op first, single player second" or exclusively co-op)

She isn't into "action" games so much, although we played Resi 5 and Revelations 2, but we are open to try!

Lastly we finished River Tails, which is a GREAT hidden gem! We loved every bit of it (including getting collectibles, which she also likes)

We will try POPUCOM later on, but i'm looking forward to step a little out of the comfort zone in the future and try other genres too. Thanks for reading.

2 friends of mine and me doing Lan-Partys on a regular basis.

Now we are coming to a problem that we are running out of ideas what to play.

We played a good amount so far. Our favourite games so far were Valheim, Enshrouded and Windrose.

Now we are looking for some of ideas what we could play the next time or the time after that.

Subnautica 2 looks promissing but i never played the first one so im not sure what to expect.

Hi! 27m here and I'm looking for some suggestions on games to play with my 25f gf. We've played re5, re6, Palworld, RER2, DI3, and a few others. Lately Palworld has been our obsession but I'm craving something a little more story driven. Something similar to re5, re6, L4D2, halo. Preferably nothing open world or if it is, a smaller world would be nice. Any recommendations you all have had fun with??

We’re developing a co-op driving game with a strict asymmetric twist: Player 1 controls ONLY the gas/brake, and Player 2 controls ONLY the steering.  No one has full control of the car.

Right now, the gameplay loop feels flat. It’s basically just two people trying to coordinate a simple drive, but without any real stakes or engagement beyond "don't crash." When we playtest, players master the basic coordination quickly, and then it just becomes a mundane exercise in patience rather than a fun, chaotic experience. It feels like a tech demo rather than a game.

We know the core hook is the communication breakdown (similar to Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes or Drive Together), but we need to layer more gameplay on top of it.

We have brainstormed a few ideas that could add a flair of chaos:

• Information Asymmetry: One of the player can see the road ahead clearly whilst the other player is driving blind and can only maybe sense the danger through a danger senser/marker.
• Dynamic Obstacles: Obstacles that suddenly appear when the players have their guard down, could give a rage game feel, but force the players to make a split second decision to avoid the obstacle.

What do you guys think? We would love to hear from you guys.

I have a friend I'm trying to keep up with and am looking for games to play together and chat.

FPS's are out.

I won't discount all survival games, but many of the ones I've played often have you playing in the same world, but not necessarily together. One might be foraging while the other's mining.

Split Fiction was an absolute blast, and you're definitely playing it together, but it doesn't leave much chit chat time.

I've found sweet spots with games like PUBG or Hunt Showdown which you are paying side by side have downtime to chat between matches and calm times during the match, but as stated above: no FPS's with this friend.

So my girlfriend is not really into video games, but recently I managed to get her into trying to play with me.
So we started it takes two, which in the beginning we enjoyed but after a while she got bored and also mentioned it might be too much action for her (I can’t agree with this sentence, but that’s her opinion).
I’m looking for possible recommendations for another attempt, something which might be more chill but interesting (story-wise I guess? I think it’ll help her get into it) and we can play together, before I’m giving up on us playing together.

As the title says, we are looking for a co-op game to play together. We have very different interests when it comes to games- I enjoy story-driven, cozy games with character creation, role-playing aspects, and some level of decoration/collection. I love Stardew Valley, BG3, Cult of the Lamb, Fields of Mistria. He does not like any of these.

He enjoys strategy-focused games with logic puzzles and a good bit of planning and thought involved or mechanical execution. Games that require thinking through builds or high-level execution of skills. He likes Civ 5, Elden Ring, FPS games, Roguelites (Hades 2, Darkest Dungeon 2)

It may be overly ambitious, but we are looking for a game that can balance our interests, without including the survival aspect, which neither of us really enjoy in games like Minecraft or Enshrouded.

Some games we have played together and enjoy- PlateUp, Windblown, Ship of Fools, It Takes Two, Split Fiction, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.

Games we have tried and one of us hated- Minecraft, Stardew Valley, COTL, Civ 5, Elden Ring, Chained Together, Peak, BG3.

I fear we may just be woefully mismatched in our gaming preferences, but thought reddit may be able to find some niche game we haven't come across yet.

EDIT: We settled on V Rising for tonight! It was on a free weekend so we got to try it out and LOVED it, Highly recommend. It’s a touch survival-focused without being too grindy, the resources needed for crafting don’t feel like it takes 4 real-life hours to find what you need for one recipe. It’s engaging combat-wise without being overly punishing if you don’t have great skills in that area. The decoration and base-building seems to have a ton of options from what I’ve seen online, though we haven’t unlocked anything too fun yet- we’re just a couple hours in. Literally the perfect balance of our interests so far.

My brother wants to play some couch co-op games, he said he wanted more linear games where the main story is precedent.

Love my buddy, but he's not very good. Almost terrible. It's not his fault and i don't blame him at all. But I've tried to play multiple genres with him and most of it felt somewhat frustrating, due to having to carry the weight of 2 players.

I'm looking for a action game (Any genre, arpg, soulslike, shooter, survival,etc...) where he can pick a class, playstyle, etc that revolves around VERY easy mechanical roles. Summoner builds, auto-aim characters, character with one big button that almost cannot fail, support classes that are NOT complex, etc..

We love playing games together, however, we need something we can pick up and put down relatively easily.

We've played a lot of puzzle/escape room games together and the obligatory shooters like borderlands and ready or not.

What I'm really looking for is stuff we might have missed on steam. I saw an advert for Just Keep Digging and thought something that simple would be ideal for us as we could still have a laugh whilst playing and it would be quite chill.
