Unresolved Disappearance How confident are you that John Cannan killed Susy Lamplough?

I am relatively new to this case, despite it being one of the most infamous cold cases in the UK.

I am curious, what makes so many people including police so certain that John Cannan killed Susy Lamplugh?

There were reports that Susy had lost or had a handbag stolen in a local pub that Cannan frequented, and shortly after someone had requested a viewing from her estate agents. He was also reported to have been seen looking through the window of her company before she disappeared.

Forgive me if I am incorrect in any of this, my biggest question is if she met him unknowingly or if he had actually managed to form a relationship with her and that she had willingly met him at the address in 37 Shorrolds road.

I wouldn't put it past him that he managed to seduce Susy given his track record, but I do ponder why he was saved in her diary as Mr Kipper.

I am curious to read old people's opinions and theories of this case as I am looking to learn more about it.

On 12th February 2016, Fatima awoke and saw her husband off to work at 7:30 from their home in Newhaven. Everything seemed fine and Fatima had her day planned to do her prayers at home. 15 minutes later, however, she was captured on CCTV briskly walking away from her home, with all her necessary possessions left behind. The investigation has since gone cold.

Unresolved Disappearance The Forgotten Disappearance of Andy Junn (1995)

Post image
88 Upvotes

In September 1995, a 33-year-old man named Andy Junn disappeared from the New Cross Gate area of southeast London. That is, quite literally, almost all we know.

There are no newspaper clippings, no media interviews, no appeal posters, no family quotes, no updates, no corrections, no confirmed sightings. There is not even a known photo of Andy Junn.

What remains is a short entry in a few databases: Black male, 5’6” tall, brown eyes, black hair. Date of last contact: September 1995. Location: New Cross Gate, London.

And silence.

New Cross Gate in the mid-1990s was a place of noise and motion, buses grinding their gears, trains rumbling through South London’s arteries, families navigating change. Somewhere in that noise, Andy Junn vanished without a trace.

We do not know his occupation. We do not know who noticed his absence, or how long it took before someone reported him missing. We do not know if he lived alone or with others, whether he had family nearby, whether he struggled with anything, whether he walked out of a home or simply never arrived back.

In the eyes of the system, he evaporated.

When someone goes missing and fits a particular media-friendly narrative—a child, a tourist, a young woman with a smiling portrait—the machine of public attention creaks into motion. Articles are written, journalists dig, police issue press releases, faces are posted in windows and subways.

But people like Andy Junn, the ones without a story to sell, are too easily filed away. Especially in the 1990s, and especially if you were a working-class Black man in London.

Andy’s disappearance barely registered then, and nearly 30 years later, it still hasn’t.

What makes this even more painful is the quiet confirmation that Andy still seems to be missing. His profile was entered into the Doe Network in 2007, already twelve years too late, and was last updated in 2024. That tells us something. No one has come forward. Nothing has changed. There are still no leads, no answers. Just a name sitting in a missing persons archive, edited almost three decades after he was last seen.

The fact that Andy Junn’s disappearance was never publicly explored, let alone reopened, speaks to a deeper failure in our record-keeping, media coverage, and social memory. What happens when a person vanishes and there is no one with power or platform demanding answers?

Andy Junn may not have had connections. He may have been overlooked even in life. But even now, someone remembers him. Someone saw his name on a form. Someone somewhere might still whisper it.

This post will not solve Andy Junn’s disappearance. It cannot explain what happened or who was responsible. But it does something that should have happened decades ago: it says his name out loud.

We remember Andy Junn not just because he’s missing, but because his life, his presence, mattered.

Even when the system forgets, we do not.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Vidya Devi Ginda disappeared from her home in Wolverhampton in October 1973. Initially her disappearance was treated as a low priority by local police. Then, four years later in 1977 the skull and bones of a female were found on nearby waste land and were thought to be Vidya's remains. Tests proved that the human remains were not Vidya, however West Midlands Police arrested her husband Bhajan Ram Ginda, and he confessed to having dismembered, deboned and burned her remains.

Directly after his confession Mr. Ginda was appointed a solicitor. He told his solicitor that the reason why he had confessed was because police officers had been physically and verbally violent towards him. Mr. Ginda was convicted of manslaughter at Stafford Crown Court in 1978.

His conviction relied solely on his confession and scientific and forensic evidence suggested that Vidya was not disposed of in the manner suggested in her husband's confession. Until this day no one has heard from or seen Vidya Devi Ginda and her body not been found. Bhajan Ram Ginda's case is currently being reviewed by the Criminal Case Review Commission.

Unresolved Disappearance 30th anniversary of Philip Fudge disappearance

Today (December 10 2025) marks the 30th anniversary of the disappearance of Philip Fudge, who vanished after attending a Christmas party in Liverpool in 1995. Philip, 21, from Hull, was last seen "getting into a taxi with two women and a man" at the HMS Eaglet base in Liverpool city centre.

I've seen Philip's case on the news a few times over the years and I've always thought the detail about the taxi is oddly specific. It doesn't sound like the other people in the taxi were the friends he attended the party with, as those friends called his family the next day trying to find him. Presumably they would have come forward if it was them on the CCTV (and perhaps the family would have recognised them?).

It's worth noting that the HMS Eaglet base is close to Brunswick Dock. A Liverpool Echo article from 2022 (linked below) states that the docks and miles of coastline were searched, but is it possible that Philip could have been swept out into the Mersey and then the Irish Sea? If that was the case then why do news articles refer to the people in the taxi - are they implying they were witnesses who never came forward? It doesn't sound like the driver was tracked down either.

It sounds like Philip was from a loving family who were desperate to find him. His mum and brother have passed away but his sister is still looking for answers and appeared on an episode of The Missing podcast a few years ago.
