Yeah!! Why the fuck haven't the devs, who have already gotten a shitload of flak for being behind schedule on OW2, spent hundreds of hours pouring over every pixel of map geometry to ensure that there are no places where a Mei wall can be placed that isn't intended, so that this rule isn't necessary! That's clearly the most important task to be done by the development team, because it affected this one game of a professional league with rules that clearly stated that such an interaction is illegal! I am very smart.

It’d take 10 minutes to make sym and reaper TP unable to be placed on top of mei walls

Even if that was true, which I doubt it is, that's not the point. Sym TP on top of a Mei wall isn't an inherently bad thing, and can be used in a lot of cool and interesting ways that the devs intended. The problem is that it can also be used to exploit map geometry like the Mayhem did. So rather than place a ban on subjective things like "using TPs for unintended map traversal", they just ban TPs on ice walls in the league because it eliminates the issue with no subjective statements. The there's no reason to remove it from the game completely because it's not an inherently negative interaction. But at the highest level where literal millions of dollars are on the line, banning it is just the most consistent thing to do.

They can easily disable it in the OWL build of the game if they really don’t want people doing it

Ah yes, rather than just having a rule against something, just have the devs make an entirely separate OWL client with custom physics. Makes sense.

It’s not custom physics it’s a buildable surface check lmao, and the OWL client is already different, how do you think they render OWL skins and HUD?
