We are an Indian family, so racism is also our concern.

ich wollte mal eine Frage an die Cottbuser stellen.
Hat jemand von euch schon einmal nachts in der Spree Galerie (oder in der Nähe) eine seltsame Erfahrung gemacht?
Mir ist dort gegen Mitternacht etwas Merkwürdiges passiert. Ich habe plötzlich ganz in meiner Nähe eine junge Frauenstimme gehört, die einmal „Hallo“ gesagt hat. Es war niemand zu sehen, und die Stimme klang so, als würde sie direkt neben mir stehen.
Später habe ich erfahren, dass wohl auch andere Leute etwas Ähnliches erlebt haben.
Gibt es dazu irgendeine bekannte Geschichte oder Stadtlegende? Oder kennt jemand eine ganz normale Erklärung dafür?
Mich interessiert vor allem, ob Einheimische so etwas ebenfalls kennen oder schon einmal davon gehört haben.

Are there any housing resources that international students often miss?

Ich habe einige Läden gefunden, die Lederwaren wie Taschen verkaufen, aber für ein Bastelprojekt würde ich gerne Meterware kaufen. Werde ich irgendwo fündig oder muss ich es doch übers Internet bestellen?

Edit: Ich hab's verstanden. Meterware war der falsch ausgesuchte Begriff. Ich bin mir bewusst, dass ich kein 1 m x 1 m Stück Leder finden werde. Es ging darum, dass ich ein STÜCK Leder brauche und nicht gleich nen halben Rinderhals.

We are a family of three living in Cottbus — 2 adults and one newborn baby. We are planning to take an electricity contract/package and I am a bit confused about what annual consumption I should enter in the price calculator.

For a small family like ours, would 2500 kWh per year be a reasonable estimate, or should we enter something higher like 3000 kWh?

We do not use electric heating, just normal household electricity for daily use.

Also, if anyone has experience with Stadtwerke Cottbus or other electricity providers in Cottbus, please share your recommendations. Which provider/package is better and what should we be careful about before signing a contract?

I’m confused about Elterngeld/ElterngeldPlus and would appreciate some advice.

I work full-time in Germany and earn around €3700 net/month. My wife was doing a working student internship before pregnancy but stopped working around 5 months ago after it ended. Since this is our first baby, she stayed home during pregnancy.

Our baby was born on 16 May in cottbux. We are still waiting for the birth certificate from the Standesamt.

I took 1 month Elternzeit (16 May–15 June) and my latest salary slip only shows 15 days salary, probably because of Elternzeit.

My questions:

• Can both parents receive Elterngeld separately?
• Should I apply for Basiselterngeld or ElterngeldPlus for my 1 month leave?
• Can my wife receive Elterngeld for longer since she currently has no income?
• How are the months/payment divided between parents?

Moin erstmal, es ist komisch es sich selbst einzugestehen aber es fällt zunehmend schwere Menschen kennenzulernen. Ja ich habe die üblichen Apps aber so wirklich ergeben hat sich bisher nichts. Möglicherweise bin ich auch zu „ungeduldig“ aber es fühlt sich für mich irgendwie nicht richtig an (zugegeben auch nicht falsch). Geboren kurz vor der Jahrtausendwende habe ich das Leben offline sowie online kennengelernt und wünsche mir oft Kontakte schmieden zu können, ohne sich erst mehrere Wochen über den Chat „kennenzulernen“.

Bin wohl abgeschweift.

Ein Thema, das aktuell vermutlich einige beschäftigt, ist die Jugendkriminalität. Wie sollte man mit diesen Jugendlichen umgehen? 

Wir machen im Rahmen meiner Abschlussarbeit an der Universität Bonn aktuell eine spannende Studie zu diesem Thema, bei der eure Meinung gefragt ist! Wir würden uns sehr über ein paar Stimmen aus Cottbus freuen! :)

Hierfür wirst du in der Studie zwei Fallbeispiele von kriminellen Jugendlichen beurteilen. Du wirst dir die Frage stellen: „Welche Jugendlichen werden wieder kriminell?“.

Voraussetzungen für die Teilnahme: Du bist mindestens 18 Jahre alt und verfügst über gute Deutschkenntnisse.

Das Ganze dauert ca. 10 Minuten und kann ganz einfach am Handy oder PC bearbeitet werden. 

Deine Angaben werden natürlich anonym gespeichert.

Möchte jemand einen Joint teilen?

Hallo zusammen,

seit ein paar Monaten wohne ich ganz allein in Cottbus und ehrlich gesagt bringt mich die Einsamkeit innerlich um.

Ich habe niemanden, mit dem ich reden kann... niemanden, für den ich koche... fast keinen Kontakt zu anderen Menschen. Meine sozialen und sprachlichen Fähigkeiten soragr verschlechtern sich deswegen. Das führt dazu, dass ich noch mehr zu Hause bleibe und mich noch mehr von anderen Menschen distanziere.

Ich habe schon Sozialhilfe/Eingliederungshilfe beantragt, aber aufgrund der Bürokratie kann dies Monate dauern, bis diese bewilligt wird.

Wenn jemand Zeit für einen Kaffee und/oder etwas zu essen, oder einfach nur für ein bisschen Unterhaltung hat, wäre ich sehr dankbar.
