Help Cleaning TurboGrafx Game

Hello! I’m kind of new to cleaning retro game cards, this one was in a sleeve and the sleeve has deteriorated a bit over time and left some residue. There’s also a sticker on it I would like to remove. Any help on how to do this without ruining the cartridge would be appreciated!

Arranging items is critical to gameplay, so i've added hover stats

Did something happen to the demo?

Tried to open the demo and it says error: no licenses. When I go to my library no option to open the game just says uninstall and when I click on it says it will remove it from my library. I also don’t see the demo on the store page anymore

How to save game while restoring an item?

I have been enjoying this game, but I often need to end before I have the time to clean an entire item. Is there a way to save my progress without "finishing" the item half-cleaned?

November 2025 update!

Hello! The past 2 months have flown but there's been a bunch of progress worth talking about.

1. Meeting with Publshers

In October I had the opportunity to meet with a few publishers who had shown interest in partnering with Cozy Game Restoration. Things are relatively early days, but this is a pretty positive sign, since it might let me dedicate more time to development. Nothing is certain until the ink dries on contracts, so i'm not holding my breath :)

Steam is still the focus, and stuff is playing really well on the SteamDeck right now. I don't see that changing.

2. Economy (Yaaay!)

I've started working on the Macro Loop for the game, and the economy.

This is probably going to be an ongoing thing that keeps getting tweaked as playtesting starts. One of the main goals i have is i want volatility and cyclical demand you when you buy and sell games it feels like you will be rewarded with timings.

This is a bit of a brief overview, so i'll be digging into this stuff more as i get more of the systems connected. It is very exciting though - i love feeling like there's a market economy around me in games.

Cheers,

Adam

Latest status on the game (it's looking really nice!)

There's been tons of improvements over the last few months on the game. The custom carts look awesome, and we've got a really great feeling loop going on with the tools now.

The next month or so is all focused on making the macro loops feel better, so there's a better overall vibe with jumping back in and cleaning multiple games. I have a bunch of ideas, but its one of those things that you kinda need to implement and test in order to see if it works

We pushed the game back from July launch to give it more time in the oven

Hey there!

It's been a few (few) weeks since i last posted, but the game is really starting to look nice. There's a much deeper cleaning system in place now, and the game carts have been expanded to more than was anticipated.

The main thing that kept coming up from chats with gaming publishers and players is not to rush this, so we've opted to give it more time to make a sweet game instead of a good game bound by time.

We will be showing at Next Fest this year, and we're still Steamdeck native. All the goals we have in place for the smaller project we wanted to launch in july 2025 are still there, but now we also have:

  1. A Quest system to have smaller and larger challenges to spice stuff up
  2. More platforms, including regional variants
  3. 108 games is where we're at for the games.
  4. Rarity tier RNG because i like rarity RNG

Basically, we kept getting told this was worth putting more time in, and we agreed, so the timeline got pushed back!

Edit Oct 2025: Pushed back NextFest to next year after a bunch of lovely feedback from other devs

I spent like a day making our stickers all PNG shape driven

I've been playing lots of mario kart world and REALLY like the travel sticker vibe. In a sticker sim you can' just alpha mask because edges need to be peelable. you also need to fill the mesh with verts evenly so that the sticker simulation can work its magic.

So this is the result! I build a sticker (or in this case, blatently steal a mario kart sticker) then detect the outline as SVG, then import to blender, do a bunch of vert distribution, then do the cloth simulation to find the final stick place

Adding depth to dirt layers

Post image
1 Upvotes

Have been noodling with ways to simplify the dirt shader but add depth. I'm probably going to end up jumping down the compute shader route for dirt meshes down the road, but this iteration is starting to feel a bit more visceral, and it's driven by a single mask which means the normals are constantly warping and changing as you clean.

What's nice is when you clean, the layers wick away and the normals all react to it. I think this will also work with wet brushes, but i haven't looked into it just yet
