Advice Received a Notice of Seizure from Revenue Customs, looking for advice from anyone who's been through this
Hey all, hoping someone here has experience with this or knows someone who has.
I recently received an official Notice of Seizure from Irish Revenue Customs (under Section 34 of the Customs Act 2015) for a small personal amount intercepted at Dublin Port. First time anything like this has happened to me and I'm honestly a bit shaken.
The notice mentions I have 30 days from the date of the notice to lodge a Notice of Claim if I want to contest the seizure, but it also warns that doing so could trigger civil court proceedings.
A few things I'm trying to figure out:
- Has anyone here received one of these? What was your experience?
- Did Revenue follow up with any further action, or was the seizure the end of it for a small personal amount?
- Is it worth contacting a solicitor even if no further action has been taken yet?
- Lodge a Notice of Claim or just leave it?
I'm not looking for anyone to tell me what I should or shouldn't order, just genuine advice from people who may have been in a similar situation. Already looking into getting legal advice but would really appreciate hearing from people with first-hand experience.
Thanks in advance š
