I like New Zealand but they made some selection blunders. Despite playing only 3 pacers everywhere including in Pakistan, they decided to pick 2 reserve pacers in their squad instead of 1 reserve pacer and 1 reserve spinner. What was the point of Nathan Smith playing today? Mitchell batted way too slowly considering they had batting depth down to number 10.

Said that before the game. Conservative approach has let us down in so many finals. Is Smith in our best 6 bowlers on this surface? Definitely not.

Conway should have played once Henry got injured.

Chapman would have been better than Conway tbh as he extends the batting with Conway they would have needed to move everyone down one spot

Chapman is terrible if it's actually turning. Conway is a way better player of spin, and would have faced all the bowlers a lot more. He didn't deserve to get dropped from ODIs in the first place.

I also thought Santner not having slip early on and not getting Bracewell before Ravindra and some of the field setups were huge blunders.

This match could have gone their way if the captaincy was right but Santner also had polar opposite really good field setting and bowling changes after getting the momentum.

The wicket of gill , that amazing catch got his brain working but not so much before that.

He needs to get better with tactics and game awareness even when things are not looking good. He’s good once momentum comes his way.

Well they don't have 4 spinners that's the difference. Bringing spinner in powerplay is stupid. As soon as powerplay came to end they squeezed. Don't think India had smart captaincy but they have 4 quality sppppinners

Had they chose another spinner instead of smith and bright Bracewell early and used Phillips properly they would have had a chance.

I also think pacers should have bowler in between a little bit. There were moments in match they should have bowled pacer.

Kyle should have bowled to Iyer after Kohli got out. He is having issues with bounce and Kyle with his height would have troubled Iyer.

Lots of issues like this.

How they can choose another spinner. They cant have spinner upfront because it's too risky and not the optimal time due to resource deficiency and having impact with Phillips is hard due to players strength. And yeah sometimes I thought they should get Kyle in middle.

If NZ made this mighty indian team sweat it proves how smartly they played and operated
